How do you code the key? Nobody goes over this step….. Gm security vats will shut down if your key is not set right.

David Dj.Nabbs says:

Ok I got one major question what if you've lost your keys and you can't give it out of the park position how do you change your ignition system then. I can't go to the dealer because it's already been switched once in the past before I bought the truck cuz I've already tried that they gave me keys to my door only and I just don't know what to do at this point I need to switch it out so I can drive my truck could you explain to me if this can be done or not

Bre Tranchese says:

actually its in the run position

Bre Tranchese says:

I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy….. my key was stuck in the start position. so I ordered a new lock cylinder. After removing the collar I was able to easily remove the cylinder….. but the new one will not go in. The rectangular piece that the end of the cylinder slides into is back towards the start position…. but when I slide the cylinder in it hits that piece and will not move to that start position to slide in. it only giggles about an 1/8th of an inch…… please help.  (the battery is disconnected)

the old one was working in that I could start the truck but not turn it off. Now ….I have no truck!

Angel Ochoa says:

I am glad I found this video. My 99' silverado was broken into recently and I needed to replace this ignition cylinder. I was worried about the security, but not any more since this is all I have to do.

misoucat says:

Thank you, excellent video. Short and to the point. No stupid music intro and unnecessary content.
