Hey Jayhoyt32, did you ever figure out what the problem was? I drive a firebird with the 3800 series 2 engine and I’m having basically the same problems that you listed.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to pull the spark plugs to see if any of them are not firing correctly. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Jayhoyt32 says:

Also, no check engine light. We’ve been driving it for 3 weeks and the problem is getting worse but still no check engine light.

Hello there. Just bought my wife an 05 Grand Prix for anniversary. Well, once the car starts warming up, the acceleration gets bad. As in sputtering, power loss, kind of like a misfire problem. Sometimes much worse than others. Sometimes it also will die right after it starts unless you give it gas right when it starts. I’m thinking the problem is one of these coils or the module they sit on. Is there a way to test each one individually? Thank you in advance.

You may want to repair those two issues with your car as they can effect the performance and throttle response on your car. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

766454able says:

Can you do the same for a 95 grand prix

1A Auto Parts says:

You could pull the spark plugs and inspect them to see if any of them look bad.

Rafal Tel says:

Hello! My grand prix doesn’t want to start so easy when motor is hot. Does ignition coil replace should help? How can I recognize which one of those three coils shuold I replace? Thank you for any info

1A Auto Parts says:

Unfortunately upgrading the coils won’t really do anything unless you are pushing a lot of air through the engine normally by a turbo. At that point you will have to tune the car to use the coils to their full potential.

g25r8cer says:

Everyone misses a key part in electrical replacement’s or service, Dielectric grease!!!! It will save headaches and keep moisture out of these connections. These coil pack posts are very prone to moisture seeping in which will cause rusting and loss of continuity/power.

1A Auto Parts says:

It’s never a bad idea to disconnect the battery while working on something electrical.

Joshua Stone says:

My Haynes guide says that I should remove the negative battery connection first to remove the entire coil pack. Should that be done to remove just one coil?

Crank Position sensor. ckp. REPLACE IT. im having the same issues thought it was theft/security. hasnt died in a week.!

1A Auto Parts says:

If you haven’t changed the fuel filter it wouldn’t hurt to try that to see if it helps the issue. If it seems to also loose power after it heats up you may also want to take a look at the catalytic convertor to see if it’s clogged and heating up.

Hi i have a 2001 monte carlo I have pretty much put all of my money into the car just cause it wont start, ok it usually takes 2 or three cranks to start but in the morning it starts right up then once you drive it for like a half an hour then it will be a lot more harder to start now the car wont even start I have no idea wut to do so far I bought an ignition module swapped the computer new ignition switch I dont know wut to do now low on cash so can you help?

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to check for a crossed or pinched wire that may be causing this.

jcashmoneythefirst says:

hey do you have a video showing how to replace the ignition, my car shuts off when I put on my blinker, I was told it could be the ignition is that true?

1A Auto Parts says:

If there’s a check engine light on, you may want to have the code pulled to see if it points you in a direction as to what the issue may be. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1998 Regal 3.8 supercharged. Feels like its running on 4 or 5 cylinders. If i buy the coils how do i know the ignition module or plate isnt causing this, or would that be a total no start. Thank you so much.

Good idea. I took off the whole ignition coil and the ignition module and went to autozone and they test it. its is OK. according to the guy in autozone the IAC valve could be damaged or dirty..thank you very much for your fast response.
