How to Install Harmonic Balancer – Envoy/Trailblazer (GM 4.2L Oil Pickup Tube Removal – Part 5)

How to Install Harmonic Balancer – Envoy/Trailblazer. I finally got the engine put back together and it’s running smooth. In this video I show how I installed the harmonic balancer on my 2004 GMC Envoy with a homemade installer tool.

After an initial diagnosis of low oil pressure with a manual pressure gauge in my 2004 GMC Envoy (~255,000 miles), I decided to investigate the oil pickup tube. Come to find out, it was about 90% clogged! This is how I fixed it.

Kevin, have you noticed any leaks from the front crank seal? The reason I ask is the GM Service Manual says to install the Friction Washer between the front cover and the crank sprocket.

Jerry C says:

Are you suppose to line up the oil pump a certain way when you put the timing cover back on?
