oven cleaner and drain cleaner is alkaline, lye, but while not an acid is strong and corrosive. With aluminum it can form hydrogen gas. Some oven cleaners are an alkaline solvent that isnt to aggressive s.a. methanolamine. CLR is sulfamic acid, milder and comparable to vinegar. these remove minerals and rust. Some plastics and rubbers are sensitive to specific chemicals, sometimes even vinegar strong. Id think with all the materials in modern cars weak is good and acids are good on rust – CLR, why not.
It's time for GM to go out of business. The quality has been lacking for too long and so has a desirable model selection. The current Chevy line-up has nothing I'd buy. Ditto for Buick. I've never liked what Cadillac stood for and don't know anyone who wants one. GM goes electric and what do we get? A 9,000 pound Hummer that's way too fast and that will be a real danger on the road. GM should stick with RWD cars – it never sold a quality FWD model except maybe for the Oldsmobile Toronado or a quality small car – and should focus on basic bulletproof transportation vehicles only. The quality technology has not been there for over 60 years yet this loser company keeps aiming above what it can reasonably produce and that's a recipe for failure.

This is what happens when you let a woman run an auto company.
Civilians call them General Motors; government calls them "Government Motors". Why? Because YOUR tax dollars have been carrying this company for decades. No other auto maker is guaranteed to win most every military contract; make junk and everyone turns there head. Perhaps why soldiers have so much problems with military vehicles? We ALWAYS had to modify them to make them do what we needed. I can only imagine how great it would be if someone like FORD built just one for us!
