Troy wrenchturner says:

Engine got a knock?

francisco grajeda says:

Nice video I liked how you knew exactly which code to go after instead of
getting thrown off by the other ones. Hey just curious what does the
message at the end of each video mean? Is it some kind if subliminal
message?

Nes559 says:

Hey James
Can the egr valve cause a stalling problem? Can it also cause a complete no
start every once in a while? I have a 2004 silverado idling rough

Great video showing that you can still repair a part instead of replacing
it 🙂

contagiousFX says:

why does a stuck egr would cause fuel trims to be positive? should it be
vice versa?

rhkips says:

Nicely done! I will say, from my experience as a GM tech, I have very,
very rarely seen those linear PWM EGRs fail outright. They get all
schmung’d up and stick, but the solenoid control itself rarely fails. Give
it a good cleaning, and slap it back on; you’ll be good to go. The “shaft
play” you mentioned in the video is normal. The pintle head itself is
self-centering in its seat, and is energized closed to maintain a seal, as
well as energized open during normal operation.

As a caution, however: DO NOT SOAK that style of EGR valve in any sort of
cleaner. The pintle shaft seal may as well be non-existent, and fluid both
can and WILL find its way up the shaft, eating the coating on the coil and
shorting it out.

Also worth noting: If you do replace that style of EGR valve, there’s a
99% chance you will have to run the PCM through an EGR re-learn procedure,
otherwise the thing will throw codes left and right. :-)
