GM Cluster Language Scrolling Fix… FREE! #mechanic #diy #science

If the Gauge Cluster Odometer in you in your GM vehicle wont stop scrolling through Language Settings, I’ll show you how to FIX IT FOR FREE in about 10 minutes. The only tool needed is a 7mm socket.

The error is caused by the build up of static electricity in the gauge cluster circuit board. It generally happens to me when the truck is put on a jack or jack stands for service. This actually grounds the vehicle out. The vehicle is normally insulated from the ground by tires. I’m not sure exactly how this causes the issue, I just know it does from personal experience.

To discharge the static electricity, you just need to remove the gauge cluster, remove the rear cover, and run your hand across the back of the circuit board. As ridiculous as that sounds, it actually works. It costs you nothing but 10 minutes of your time, and saves you several hundred dollars.

When my gear selection dimmed on my 03 Tahoe, I re-soldered the diodes on the board and it lit back up

I think unplugging it is the key.
