GM – Chevy Truck: Misfire Diagnosis

GM – Chevy Truck: Misfire Diagnosis

Just like skinning a cat there are many ways to get the job done. Being a professional shop I will typically use the tools I have at hand to diagnose in the most efficient way possible. However, in this video I use a combination of techniques to help us find the fault. Just remember, there is no wrong way of doing it if you end up with the correct answer. However, there is usually a more efficient way to do things. -Enjoy!

RING that BELL! lol.

Splitfire pilot says:

A Pcm as you know can shut down an injector if it detects a misfire, I'd think in that situation the pcm would to go into open loop and not try to trim the fuel, but I guess its down to the chevrolet boffins.
I'm a plant fitter I swap parts all the time to find faults, 'expert' comments dont pay my wage, fixing machines does.

dltisdal says:

Great show. I was Hoping to see the injector in your hand. Maybe even try to clean it. I was hoping to see a spray pattern on the bench. But I don’t know shit about’m. Maybe injectors only cost a few bucks. But still, if you know a way to easily clean them, that would be great to see! For the poor boy weekend warriors it could save a trip to the warehouse and the cost of an injector. Or maybe get someone out of a jam when no parts are available. Thanks for sharing! High five to you from Galveston County Texas

Tory Brawner says:

Just curious in your opinion would you say chevy trucks are junk or you don't approve of them trucks?

Bigtruck57 H, says:

Great video, great instruction. I'm about to have to diagnose and misfire on one cylinder on a 2007 Hyundai Entourage, number five cylinder of course that you can't get to without removing the intake manifold. I don't have any of the "fancy scan tools"available to me so I may just use the long screwdriver in the ear method and a test light. I appreciate your videos very much as you always look to help even the DIY'ers. Looking forward to every new video you come out with thank you.

Eduardo Rivera says:

Ivan loves you and you love scotty.

agii Gee says:

Thanks for that explanation as to how there are different ways to check and not rely on one test. As always enjoy your diagnosis. even the cat too.

twwtb says:

The difference between tryagnostics and swaptronics. Learn something new every day. Really good logical diagnostic steps too.
