Pretty simple Fuel filter change on a 2021 Silverado 1500 with the LM2 3.0L Duramax Diesel.
Per GM document from Service Information:
1. Clean Housing
2. Drain Water/Fuel Separator
3. Remove Water Separator Assembly
4. With assembly upside down, remove filter from cap
5. Remove and discard 2 o-rings
6. Clean Cap, Install Cap o-ring and install filter into cap
7. Install o-ring on filter housing pipe
8. Install and tighten to 18 ft lbs
9. Prime fuel system – Ignition on for 2 minutes. Ignition Off. Start the vehicle. If the engine does not start, repeat. if engine starts but runs rough, increase idle slowly to purge air from fuel system. Inspect for leaks.
10. Reset fuel filter monitor on dash.

When priming the system, are you holding the start button in for 2 minutes or just pushing it and releasing, but leaving the power on for 2 minutes then shutting off?

What is it you are using to clean the housing and fuel bowl with? Brake cleaner?

Anyone who believes the manufacturers recommended fluid & filter changers needs to pull their heads out of their as$! You need to cut everything they say in half. Those recommendations are just to get you through the warranty and that’s it.

Recommended milage to change? I bought my truck private party, 21' w/53k and I went ahead and changed it here at 57500 miles & dash fuel filter life showed 7%. Forums I see a lot of conflicting info. Do you find GM service manual is to soon or to late on changing? (Obviously quality of fuel dictates this but assume its standard quality diesel). Trying to determine my interval. Note: I do still have some of the 5yr /100k power train warranty remaining till next June I believe is the month the truck was purchased. TYIA
I have a 3.0L 2023 Silverado Diesel. Is it the same filter as the 6.6? $130 is the dealer price to replace. Crazy
