+d2ricci Unfortunately I don’t know where to get replacement gears for
these units, although I wish I did. I usually scavenge them from other
broken ones I have that may have a completely different issue. Sorry I
can’t be more help. :(

Tania Downer says:

These are the noises that the car stereo are making in my mother in laws
car. 6 brand new legal cds are stuck in there. Won’t play or eject. She has
a ford mondeo 2002 – how can we get the cds out or how do we get the cd
player out to follow this tutorial. Help would be much appreciated.

Phil Park says:

Hi. Thanks for the great video. One small thing, when you remove the wire
loom connecting the top plate to the body, when you remove the tape, the
connector on the while connector on the board has two very small tabs to
pull out to release the wire loom and make it easier to reinstall. I have
another problem with my CD player. There are two moving plates that are
moved by the small motor that you remove. The plates in my CD player seem
to jam about half way along. Difficult to turn the gear, even the large
gear in the bottom with the chrome plate removed. Usually have to push the
plates as well as the large gear to get them to move. I cannot tell which
plate is jammed. Do you have any suggestions as to what this problem is
and how I can fix it? Thanks.

I have a 6 CD changer in my Mazda CX-7 that has been experiencing eject
issues, CD errors trying to load for about 3 years now and was at the point
where it would no longer play, eject or load. I was ready to replace it and
ran across this video. Although my player was different from your video it
was close enough that I could follow and fix my changer to as good as it
was when I purchased the vehicle New. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

doug waters says:

Awesome video. thanks! This was just what i was looking for. But i still
managed to botch it! ): I just could not get the little C clip off the
gear, i was over thinking it i think. 🙂 Six disc loaded and they wouldn’t
ejectI The disc needed to be returned to the library, so i had to remove
the springs on the trays and get the disc out that way. But since, I was
able to get the C clip out and all the springs back on. But I can’t get the
mechanism to work as freely as you did.

BTW, this is the exact same changer that’s in my fiance’s ’07 Nissan Versa
SL, manufactured by Clarion i believe.

Just a thought …. if the disc won’t eject, and before disassembly to
remove the disc, could one just try to clean the contacts to see if that
would clear the problem?

Thanks again!

Excellent tutorial video. I have a Mach 460 in my 2001 Mustang Base, and my
6-disc CD player doesn’t work; it reads “CD Error” when trying to load a
disc, and the CD tray door is stuck open. I bought this car back in
October, and the CD player didn’t work during the test drive with the auto
dealer salesman. I’m going to pull the stereo tomorrow, and see if I can’t
repair it. Any information you can provide as to why there’s a load error,
and why the CD player won’t except CDs would be sincerely and gratefully
appreciated. Also the volume knob doesn’t work correctly; won’t always turn
back down, or turn up when turning the knob. I’m thinking both
situations may have to do with the switches you referenced in your video. I
am going to test them (ohms) with my multi-tester. I don’t have any
DE-OX-ID contact cleaner, but thinking rubbing alcohol may suffice? Are all
six-disc changers nearly similar when it comes to malfunctioning and
repair? Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Rob Lamper says:

wow great video . this video helped out great to fix mine. it was to
switches :p

CmdrGendoIkari says:

Great tutorial video. By chance, do you think those contacts you cleaned
may be responsible for one of these units not wanting to accept CDs? Once
in a while it finally accepts a CD into one of the stack slots, but most of
the time it just immediately spits it back out before it even gets all the
way inside.

Corsair Lalovzki Steinjolt says:

I was repairing this along with your tutorial step by step, i lack some
tool, and i stopped when i realized its missing the lift mechanism, so i
guess the best for me will be to get a 2nd hand magazine and replace it.
amazing video tough!

kevbo0825 says:

One other quick question: Did you use a 12V battery with an inline fuse to
power up the head unit to test it? I have a small 12V battery I can use,
but I don’t have an inline fuse, and didn’t know if it was necessarily
warranted for test purposes; I don’t want to blow any circuitry, however.

GenerationXT says:

Best method for applying the DeOxit is to use a needle dropper dispenser
bottle. They are not hard to find on the net, or many times can be
purchased from a hobby store.

joshgarcia116 says:

Thanks for the video. Great quality and easy instructions. Did everything
and got all my CDs out. The only hard part for me was the snap ring on the
black gear. The problem my cd changer was having was not ejecting the discs.

Unfortunately after putting everything back together mine started to do
what the this cd changer was doing at the beginning of the video along with
a “Load Error” message.

Do you have any suggestions?

Mobe3669 says:

Great video. I changed my battery in my 08 Mercury Milan and afterwards the
cd changer must have got jammed. I’ve followed the video all the way where
you started taking the CDs out, but have only been able to get the top two
out on mine. I can’t get the trays to come together with the last three
cd’s. Have you ever had problems getting the gear that you rotate clockwise
where it stops turning like it’s supposed to? I believe I got the jammed cd
out but want to to get the others out so it can reset.

Bilal Ghannam says:

Very very nice and informative video,
Big like
I have the same CD player in my 2008 ford 500 car, it started to make
troubles after the last time I changed the car battery, once I connected it
,thr CD player started to make tek tek tek tek sound, then it stopped, CD
player was working also the radio and sync system, but each time I need to
move to the other CD it will start making the tek tek sound for few seconds
then it works properly.
Unfortunately I tried to fix it before I see your video, when I removed the
CD plyer from the radio lt seems that the white cable was partially pulled
from the side of the radio, and when the metal body of the CD player touch
the metal body of the radio ,electrical sparks came out , I fixed it in
place and tried to turn it but nothing is working anymore !!!!!!!!
Kindly what might be the problem, I really appreciate any advice

d2ricci says:

I know this is kind of vague but the white gear next to the black one that
you removed in the video. my cd player has missing teeth on that gear. My
question is, do you know where I can find that white gear? Thanks in
advance

Robert Stevens says:

Have you worked on many 03 Ford mach changers? I’m getting cd error, is the
unit most likely out of sync?

Jackson Ogburu says:

I have a 2007 accord can you help me fix my 6 disc changer?

Diego Martínez says:

Hello again, my disc changer is jammed again, this time it seems to be that
the laser arm is stucked, I just disarmed, but I can’t get to re arm it
again, any advise?

John Scimemi says:

I have a 2007 ford focus with a radio issue and I was wondering if you
could help me. The radio number is 7S4T-18C815-CB. The number may be
different than the one in this video, but it’s the same radio. My issue is
that it will be working and if I use the knob on the radio to turn the
volume down it will completely shut off and sometimes make a humming noise.
Other times it will come right back on. If i use the steering wheel
controls everything seems to work fine. If it does turn off after this
happens, I unplug it then plug it back in and it still will not turn back
on. If i leave it alone and shut the car off and come back later, the
radio will be working fine. Do you know what this could be?

67hbdluxe says:

Thanks for the reply. I have a new issue that is slowing my progress. I got
the unit back together, hooked it up, and had a grinding noise as well as a
“load error”. Luckily I spotted a small white gear that had loosened and
fell out of the unit. I don’t know where this gear is from, and have been
watching your video repeatedly in slo-mo, but have yet to find where it
could go.
I had to solder a wire from the corner motor. It came loose while tucking
the wires, and I’m wondering if it could be from around the area of that
motor. I realize that it’s hard to say just from a description and there
are numerous possibilities that this gear could be, but any ideas?

Adam Dent says:

My 2007 Ford Fusion had been jammed (without any cds in it) since I bought
it last summer. And when I was trying to fix a separate radio display issue
I found this video. Followed along and worked perfectly. However, I used
CRC 2-26 Lubricant/Cleaner to clean the contacts. Also the big gear at the
bottom did not have the same markings as the one in the video, but was able
to find the right spot. Thanks a ton!

67hbdluxe says:

I believe you’re correct. No hexagonal hole on either side of this gear. It
may vary slightly by design. Mine is from a 2003, but pretty much identicle
to the one in your video. When you turn the gear at 11:50 in the video, the
white assembly behind the trays and the two white loading fixtures move.
Mine does not, so this may be the issue. Just need to know where the gear
goes. Thanks for your help!!

Harley Cole says:

Outstanding video, thanks for posting. Hopefully I can do this to mine.

67hbdluxe says:

Is there an alternate material that can be used for cleaning the switches?
Any household products that may do the job? I don’t have the multimeter or
the De-Ox-Id. Just hoping to get the thing fixed with something that may
work in a similar fashion. Thanks, video has been a HUGE help so far!!

fabricwizard says:

Thanks for this great tutorial. Exact cd player that I have in my
Ford Edge. I followed it and it worked but when I went to install, it
would not turn on. Like there is no power. Radio won’t even turn on. Any
suggestions? I have checked the fuses, they are good.

Gary Krone says:

The video helped me remove CDs my son had stuck in, but when I went to test
it didn’t go back to the default position after ejecting. There was a
double space at disk 2 and the unit reported a load error.

john J says:

That is a great instructional video man. I followed it perfectly. The
switches were the problem dirty i guess but it works great now thanks
again..

67hbdluxe says:

Just let me know how to send you a pic of this gear, and I will do so.

67hbdluxe says:

K, got it. 67hbdluxe.imgur.com should get you there. Thanks!!
