Top End? Not giving up on this 1985 Bronco 4×4 head gasket case

We made it though the ‘will it run’ and ‘will it drive’, but we now know a head gasket is failing in this little 2.8l ford v6 bronco. I tried to move on, but I just couldn’t let it go. I started the project and now I want to keep going. The goal is to tear down the motor in the vehicle to do a top end rebuild. New gaskets are on order. We are going to break some bolts and replace some exhaust studs and manifold gaskets before it will go back together nice, but that’s just how it goes. My DIY automotive repair career didn’t start just yesterday. No garage or lift today, just grit, determination, a sawzall, a 48 inch breaker bar extension pipe and lots of elbow grease. It’s showtime.

Nice work, clean them and use a good straight edge to check for warpage . Hopefully they are not.

Love watching you do all this outdoors. Completely kills any excuse the rest of us with a garage may even attempt to conjure.

The 2.8l was notorious for head warping and cracking I would check the head all way around they usually crack at the back of the head to the fire wall

48" breaker bar extension! Seems like the bolts were tight. They're off now.
