Time To install the Dash. Pt2 EVAP installation. https://youtu.be/MH-rN8WTKsA
The funny thing about this is it hasn't changed very much ( couple more wires and sensors basically the same) since I retired in 2003. Most of the fastener are in the same locations .
I've had to go into that box twice on 1 separate fords for faulty blend doors and was told to remove everything like you did but the shortcut was just remove the glove box and use a oscillating multi tool and cut a hole in the front of the box to gain access, worked like a charm. Once I completed the blend door repair I simply used a soldering iron to melt the plastic back together with the piece I cut out and also worked like a charm. Replacement part for you is unavailable without buying and replacing the entire box but one option is remove one from a boneyard the same way if used isn't a problem or buy new box and remove the unit from it and install it into the box still in the dash. Hope this helps you or someone in the future.
when did car designers decide to throw away concept of making components accessible for repair? This is just ridiculous
The really amazing thing is that the people who designed and built it consider themselves to be engineers! A real engineer would design it so that the t stat sensor
could be easily accessed.
I replaced a heater core on an XJ6, and I'll NEVER do it again!! That's what this video reminded me of.
I would have peeled the silver sticker off cut a acces hole and plastic weld it up after it was installed then replace the sticker
OK how many jumped out of their skin when the tack prybar popped out
I asked a engineer a question! So I asked do they teach practicality in school his answer was nope it cost to much
You'll need counselling after this job Ray, especially being a Ford.. lol
wow a lot of things to take apart, almost as bad my siilverado,, great video to watch
design engineer needs too be HUNG..
Experiments never fail. They just give you an unexpected result. The question then is, what do you do with the unexpected result?
Could the problem be women engineers ?
I forgot we also did the heater core and the 2 blend door motors on top and bottom..Happy customers = a paycheck
I just did a job almost same color and year, left the steering column attached to the dash frame, just make you zip tie it to keep it from rotating..Saved about an hour
Reminds me of my vw beetle… All day job to replace the heatercore. Made me wonder if they built the car around it during production…
Typical Ford
