i couldnt get the c clamp and socket to work. hopefully it works for
putting the new ones in
how do u know? or when do you replace a u jonit
hello everyone
Okay, I’m sorry for feeling sorry for you. I just really dig people.
Especially when they have a quirk. Quirks are interesting.
@alaskaman73 If he is a mechanic why is he using a claw hammer? Aren’t they
used by carpenters?
@DanDeVideoMan The rear takes a lot more abuse than the front…. i would
replace both and it may not be necessary but gives you a little peace of
mind.
probably. and they would spam this comment just so others dont see it. I
dont watch expert village anymore just because of that..
this video is great i used it to replace my u joints on my 05 chevy
colorado z71 4×4 and i had no idea what i was doin. this video showed me.
if there is more of these videos by this guy someone please let me know i
dont know his name to look for. thanx dude
Just like so…actually just like so haha
I had to skip past the scrapping with that pick. Gave me serious chills.
@drakeguy22 They salt the roads here too. lol We prefer to call it Cancer
here.
@briansmobile1 take it you dont know what rust is….
@griffithd05 Seriously.
How long was that drive shaft on the ocean floor?
just replaced one one a chevy silverado
Typical backyard mechanic I’d say, we even got ’em in this country! Call’s
’em “Love taps” then strikes a precision bearing with a naked steel hammer!
The arrogance speaks for itself really
Thank you for posting this video, it is very helpful.
Whacking it like that with a claw hammer is going to deform the housing.
Not to mention getting the cap started crooked. And you are lucky a roller
didnt fall out into the bottom of the cap. Some lube would have helped, not
to mention grease…..
i remember a road trip i had one fail i used the hammer method ROFL i
busted one cap had to make do with an old cap it ended up being the flat
tie straps on 1990 chevy truck would let the caps fling out..(but that
trouble was a crappy u-joint broke at zerk fitting…i`d suggest ones
without grease fittings)
i hate how expertvillage seperates all their clips to be short. wtf is the
point of that?
“Love taps” giggity giggity gooo!
Does it really matter that it lines up exactly the way it was? My project
75′ camaro’s driveshaft was taken off some time ago to clean underneath the
chassis and I didn’t mark one side of it. It looks exactly the same on both
sides is why I’m asking.
Great video
Um. grease?
yer seriously ive been making shafts for 7 years now and 1 hes lucky he
didnt drop a bearing in the cups using a hammer like that 2 he didnt re
grrease the bearing cups and 3 its gonna be out of balance propper cow boy
video id be sacked on the spot if i was caught refurbing a 1410 like that
Thanks bro
Thank you, I was stumped but with your video, I had no problem, thank you
once again
If you have a Ford Explorer (any year) I recommend changing the engine,
transmission and body, preferably with Honda or Toyota so it doesn’t
depreciate as much 🙂
4:18 give it a squeeze and slip it in the hole lol
So why are all the videos on replacing the rear U joint. Don’t you ever
have to replace the front one? Shouldn’t you replace it just cause you
already have the drive shaft out? I’m about to tackle this job on my ’64
Cutlass and wondering if there is any reason NOT to change the front one.
By the way, nice video.
hes a cool hippy mechanic prime example: “LOVE TAPS”
