Romex isn’t thhn wire , it should not be in emt conduit .

Quintin Wills says:

You made a good point about a lot of houses that only have 100 amp service (or 60 in some cases). That is a pricey upgrade. Probably will see this issue a lot in the areas where natural gas or propane is the main source of fuel and air conditioning in houses isn’t as common.

Dularr says:

I have separate breaker box going to an old shop. So I will probably keep that setup. One breaker box for the house. Then a second breaker box outside. I need to find out if I can add a second meter for the EV.

Off The Grid says:

It's better to just trade the F150 lightning in for an actual truck. The price of electricity is sky rocketing. Who could afford to charge these things or have the time to do so even at 220v. People need to think and realize what they are trying to do to society and our freedom.

a wiseman says:

Aren't the two hot phases 120V each? How does 120+120=220?

David Colgan says:

Glad to see you followed up with this video.

Jake Nielson says:

Great video. Glad you covered the outside charging setup as full size trucks don't fit in my garage either. Also you mentioned you were working through the utility/electric charging cost math, if you would like a second set of eyes on it I'd be happy to help. I've had to do a lot of utility energy rebate value calculations in my various jobs and have gotten used to tackling the fairly complex math involved.

Jay says:

how do you use the truck to power house? does this set up do that?

John Carman says:

What you are calling the charger is actually the EVSE ( electric vehicle supply equipment) the actual charger is within the vehicle. You have the mobile unit which maxes at 32 amps even though you are delivering 50 amps to it. The units that you would wire directly and hang on the wall not use a plug will deliver more amperage.

There is an adapter you can use to connect the 14/50 to a dryer connection 10/30 or 14/30.

6/50 can be used to charge an EV no neutral is needed

D M says:

Unfortunately our panel is full so it would cost a boatload more.

Peter Pawlak says:

Added benefit, you can now plug in a welder

dmanmb says:

Can you interview someone from the local power company to see how EV’s will affect them? How many trucks can be charged in a neighborhood or on their system before they cannot supply enough power? Just curious as to their thoughts

Frank Keel says:

Does the truck at 220 draw how Many amps? I as a retired electrical contractor would have located that power as close as possible to electrical panel. Eliminating voltage drop! ⚡️Also are you not subsidize by local or federal for installation costs? These costs the average home owner with the inflated electrical parts to do this install is most likely a no go! In my opinion dealing with battery's all my life this EV technology was pushed to fast upon we the people. As soon as the Democrats are out of office the ICE vehicles will be KING once again. It is just to expensive for the average American to buy a EV and maintain!
