Most ANNOYING Ford in the World? (ABS/RSC Warning – Part 2)

Most ANNOYING Ford in the World? (ABS/RSC Warning – Part 2)

This CAN communication diagnosis was supposed to be straight-forward, but the ANNOYING Mercury Mountaineer keeps moving the goal posts!

Let’s not lose our patience, and continue to FOLLOW THE DATA.

Will the extremely obnoxious dinger be FIXED once we repair the ABS CAN circuit?

Also, the junkyard ABS module was NOT PROGRAMMED correctly by the previous shop, so we have to use Ford “As-Built” data with the Launch scanner to input the correct calibration numbers.

That was a fun one. Having the owner be part of the solution (instead of the problem) is wonderful.

@arlo4051 says:

I think after the first minute I would have done a dinger-ectomy on it.

@mandytuning says:

Dang it,i have same 919xbt , didn't know it can program some modules

@MaxAirGo says:

Its nice that you pass on the knowledge to the willing owners.

Hi Ivan
I thoroughly enjoy all your episodes, and am learning a lot! A question, would you recommend any books or online courses for someone that has a strong background in electronics, and understands the mechanics of a car, but it lost among all the electronic controls units, different CAN busses, CAN gateways, all kinds of different data standards etc. ?
Greetings from Spain.

@JessClearyAutoRepairLLC says:

Cool video! Especially the module configuration without the original one available.

When a problem drives you crazy, Ivan is your man to solve it!

@lvsqcsl says:

I had that problem on the 'ol Marquis years ago. That ABS pump was about $400.00 and I replaced it myself. The ABS light would come on when the car went about 12 mph and would flash. It also works with the traction assist and in the owner's manual it says the hydraulic pump can overheat if you continually spin the rear tires. It has a thermal switch that is supposed to shut it down if it gets too hot. Great repair, Ivan! GREAT VIDEO!

@agostinodibella9939 says:

Ivan, it’s great that you got the owner through to where he was able to replace the ABS module and finish the job!

@awesomusmaximus3766 says:

My fix was tape on the dash ha ha the part needed was 2K the first replacement pump lasted three months (Ford dealership probably never changed it)

@byrd203 says:

Ivan on your keyboard hold the Control key then press f you can type the code if its on that page it will highlight it for you so you do not have to scroll down as much

@sjn7220 says:

I think Forscan could have programmed it too.

@hughjass1274 says:

6:00 “tail light warranty” LOL

@philliplopez8745 says:

I always give them a 20 -20 guarantee, 20 feet or 20 second , which ever comes first .

@philliplopez8745 says:

You should have been a rocket surgeon !

@SHSPVR says:

So that look like a CRP919XBT

@mykofreder1682 says:

Also, with age the connectors could wear and not hold things as tight, causing the problem and the movement with vibration.

@haroldhawkins9370 says:

You do great work Ivan.

@baxrok2. says:

Thanks Ivan!

@arthurmccarron4379 says:

U. Amaze. Me. Every time. Thanks

@rodneymiddleton9624 says:

Nice work Ivan!!!!

@rhkips says:

Amazed to see that the Launch tool also has the exact same as-built programming Order of Operations glitch that the recent versions of Ford FJDS have had! It still works fine, it'll just spook you if you've done a lot of as-built programmings.
