Great video.. Thanks gentlemen!
Donnie, is the truck drop off panel that you fabricated butt welded to the
wheel housing or do they remain separate?
No I just roughed it up. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching the video!
Wondered if u could help iv been trying to remove somthing that’s bonded is
there. A easier way than a hammer and chilsel. I was thinking. Heat
Hi Tom, the areas to be plug welded do not apply panel bond for several
inches of weld. The weld areas, I use weld-through primer. Also, I usually
allow the panel bond to dry before welding. Sorry for the confusion, I hope
this helps.
Cool.
Yes, heat is the trick. You can use a heat gun to heat the metal up, which
will heat the adhesive making it much easier to come apart. I agree, it’s
almost impossible without heat. Thanks for watching!
Donnie, did you strip the backside to bare metal before spraying the
bedliner? Or just scuff it? Thanks for the vid,
I welded it together, then used seam sealer to seal the joints.
Donnie…I’m a little bit confused! Is it OK to spot weld on the qtr panel
while the panel adhesive is still wet? Is the panel adhesive “weld thru”
similar to the primer? Won’t the heat from the spot welder burn or liquify
the panel adhesive? Just not sure how to proceed . Thanks
I just roughed up the backside. I think it is a good idea to leave as much
of the e-coat on the panel as possible.
