How do you know which way the thermostat is supposed to be placed in the housing

Inside Dad’s Head says:

Cody Wright says:

You are using the incorrect coolant !!!!!! It’s suppose to be Fords Motorcraft gold coolant ( G-05 ) !!!!!! This is incorrect and will cause problems …. Ford switched from the silicate based Green coolant to the Phosphate free HOAT coolant in 2000 and you will see on the degas chamber the sticker that says use only G-05 gold !!!!!
