1:15 Satan!
good video… but you should have explained to the retards to make sure the
lug nuts don’t pretrude past the spacer otherwise you bolt your wheel on
top of the sticking out nuts/studs..
1:10 Are you SERIOUS??? I hope to God I’m never next to you on the highway,
or to anyone foolish enough to follow that potentially fatal advice.
Putting anti seize on lug studs and/or nuts (especially the sloppy way you
did it in this video) is a sure fire way to get some on the tapered
portion, which will cause you to over torque the nut and literally stretch
the stud (even with the torque wrench set to the proper value), leading to
an inevitable catastrophic failure of the stud and loss of the wheel. That
happens at a high speed and you’ve got a high potential for a severe
accident and likely loss of life.
The directions in this video are going to get someone killed.
I got a question- I ordered a set of 1 inch spacers. After seller ships I
realized that my lug nut studs are 14mm and my spacers are for 12mm. Would
they still slid on and just be tight or not work at all? Thanks…
Is it bad for your car to install these
I don’t car how you do it. Never put anti-seize on a lug nut, wheel
assembly. I have been the head tech at my local tire/wheel shop for three
years now. I have always been taught and taught others that it is supposed
to be a 100% dry assembly. Maybe a little PB Blaster on a rusted stud and
then wiped clean. I have gone through numerous demonstrations that show how
you will over-stretch the threads on the studs. I wouldn’t use any
anti-seize at unless you want something over torqued, broken, or flying
off. Just my personal experience.
Thanks
do the spacers work on drum brakes?
@russianoleg howcome?
how would 3″ wheel spacers look on a cadillac
I have spacers on my car but it keeps vibrating even after doing 3 wheel
balances. Around 65-85mph. What could be wrong?
I have seen 35 mm…I know they get crazy wide for some of the
off-road/truck applications. Get spacers with embedded studs like the ones
shown and you should not have to cut your existing studs. In fact, the
wider you go the less likely you have to cut the studs.
@Invisiblepanda use a thick enough spacers to bury the original threads or
use wheels that leave space for studs that may stick through (in other
words the back of the wheel is not flat but has indents that would surround
studs).
That might be cutting it close…maybe the 1 inchers (25 mm). I run the
same wheel setup as you with 285 width tires and I always leave the spacers
off. If you have 275 mm wide tires you can probably do another 25 mm like
shown in the video. Ideally you would just go with the wider tire since you
have great rims to do it. I used to run 295s and I think that may have been
my favorite.
@johnnyramma Idk about that but they are prone to causeing wheels to brake
off
Thanks for the vid, why hub-centric & non hub-centric? I’m about to order
some 1.5″ hub-centric spacers for my new 2013 J.K Wrangler rubicon. I like
the new rims & I’m keeping them but need to correct the stance & stop the
rub at full articulation. 285/70/17 BFG’s. Yes I do use it off road often,
I chose Spider Trax spacers because of their article on alloy composition.
yes they are legal i had to put some on my S14 my tires wer too wide and
wer rubbing my suspension i had to widen my load 😛
If you don’t want your wheel to come off, you shouldn’t lubricate the
threads that hold them on.
I noticed that those spacers were a pretty good size (20-25mm or so) and my
question is, do you have any concerns about your wheel bearings using such
a whide spacer? I want to put 25mm in the front and 20mm in the rear on my
STi but I hear both good and bad things about spacers, what is your opinion?
My wheel flew off as I was heading to the highway! I learned from that
mistake
I got a 94 Camaro and my buddy gave me some rims that came off his 99
Mustang… the front tires are 19×9¹/² and the back tires are 19×11¹/²..how
do you know what the right kind of spacers you need.. I I can get 3 of the
5 lugs on but the other 2 lugs are like 3cm off from fitting
Please help me I have a wider set iof tires on my grandam gt. The normal
ones are 22550 and i have 22560 . its rubbing on the struts what size
spacer do you think i should get? Please
umm what thicker the 1.5inch or 35mm
Because ford is made by GM
my truck has 7 lugs. I have not been able to find them. Any suggestions?
Any benefist? I mean.. are spacers only for esthetics ?
I am not as familiar with the Vettes but as far as I can remember the
Vettes have a really nice stance and probably don’t need spacers!
If you go too wide, you will have to roll/pull your fenders to minimize
rubbing.
Awesome video.
you don’t have to but it may look a little weird if the front ones are
noticeably wider than the rears.
Correct, you will have slightly more negative camber.
hey man do i HAVE to put the spacers on all 4 wheels or will just 2 on the
front will be fine?
so… did you just do the back?
what happens if you over tighten lug nuts? if you dont have a torque wrench
is it bad to just tighten it real hard?
Great video dude. thanks! Answered all of my questions.
are they safe? i mean, wont they harm the car?
i heard that puting wheel spacers on is hard on wheel bearings, ever have
any problems??
I’m already running quite a bit of rear negative camber because of my
lowering springs, and rear camber on my car is non-adustable, spacers will
increase negative camber because of the wider stance, correct?
