I haven’t yet but plan to. I’m going to upgrade to an Android deck after
Xmas and will post another video

BullisticFan says:

Wow, great video…I’ve seen others with a double din installed but have
heard they lost the use of the rear entertainment system. Now I see how it
is done correctly. Thank you!

Tristen Somerville says:

Thanks so much for this video. We have used it twice now. Once for our
stereo install and now for the DVD player. We are having an issue with the
DVD install. Peeve tested and we don’t have a full 12v going into and
coming out of the stereo. It runs around 11v. We can’t get power to the DVD
player. Any ideas?

leonel campos says:

Good fucking video

MWhite128 says:

I just installed a Kenwood head unit but the rear speakers don’t work now?
I do not have a DVD system. Do you have any idea why the rear speakers
wouldn’t work?

charlies73 says:

I liked the video, can you tell me what deck you used? I am wanting to do
the same with my 2003 Excursion.

MrSeabeevet says:

You scratched your center console spinning the stereo around. Ouch

Andy Padgett says:

Good video, just one last question I can’t find the answer on anywhere. I
have an 03 X without the IR headphones. Only option is the plug in at the
control panel on the back/bottom of center console. How can I get that
panel to still work? Also have steering wheel controls. Thank you.

Rad Macks says:

Thanks, I haven’t had a chance yet but will try soon

Andreas Johansson says:

Looks good. I have been reading so many posts on all the ford forums and
its nice to finally have a video of all the wiring that needs to take
place. I really cant wait for the wiring into the auxillary input on the
rear DVD system.

Brian Wilson says:

Did you lose the steering wheel control functionality or center console
controls with the few wires still in the factory harness that were not cut
and connected to the new head unit? Did you also ever get a chance to
solder the the RCA wires to the back of the rear DVD for video on the head
unit? And did you run the RCA from the head unit to the AV input on the
front of the rear DVD for both versions of 2 way viewing?

bigweel73 says:

Your video worked perfect I did the change over from stock to a pioneer
AVH-X 1500dvd. When can you post a video on how to play the same video from
the rear DVD to the head unit. You mentioned it in this video.

nutcase444 says:

I found the CORRECT replacement for the 70-5520AV: At Crutchfield it is
Item# 469FRDNDVD , it is called a “P.I.E. FRDN-DVD Rear-seat DVD Factory
Integration Adapter” it is the same this as the one you cut off the plug,
except this one has the correct 20-pin plug. You can also get it on ebay,
Do a search for “PIE FRDN-DVD Ford Factory DVD Player Retention Harness” it
is only sold by one seller “Audiopartsonline” again this one has the
correct plug – called a “20-pin world plug” Good Luck

Tim McCright says:

Great video, Thanks! What kind of Head unit did you get? Haven’t decided
which one I wanted. I have the 6-CD unit with the CD error (already fixed
it twice and I’m done) and want a GPS with IPod or Bluetooth input.

Rad Macks says:

I have added the wiring diagram and some more info to my blog @
radmacks.blogspot.ca

Rad Macks says:

I haven’t wired the rear dvd into the deck yet. I have been using the main
stereo to play all the dvds. This was a Chinese unit bought off ebay. Yes
the steering controls do not work, You can by a module for about $50.00
that will enable the controls again. Sorry for the late reply been a busy
summer

ryan swenson says:

did you have to buy a dvd mount kit for it to fit? or does the dvd player
just slide in and fit?

numan khalid says:

Thanks allot . This video answer my every question . I have a ford
expedition 2004 . I was planning to change the radio to aftermarket . But I
was stuck on read dvd . But your video answer my question . Specially you
explain the wires . Thank you . And I wish u a good luck

damn you you beat me to it!

Bob W says:

Thanks for the video, Did you ever wire the rear dvd to play on the front
screen? Looked for a video of that and didnt see one

pooh40 says:

40 bucks send it back lol

Rad Macks says:

Steering wheel controls are depended on the stereo you use. Most of the
time you will need to add a steering control module which can be purchased
at any stereo shop. The rear control is independent and should work no
problem

Nalt Harrington says:

nice video

FASTEST13579 says:

what is the exact sterio you used in the tutorial?

Captain Croaker says:

From CHina!

Brian Wilson says:

*CONTD.* Think that may be all of my questions. This video was VERY
informative because my OEM CD-6 has the dreaded error message and doesn’t
play CD’s anymore but I want to keep everything else with an updated head
unit asyou have done. Thanks very much for the time and information… I
would love to hear back about the outstanding questions I have seing as you
dove right in and made things happen. You’re a DIY pioneer many posts that
have info and products that are sense gone or not available.
