not sure of how to test it. I just read a bunch of stuff online and this is
what sounded like it was the issue. I bought the part on ebay and figured I
could re-sell it if it did not fix the issue.
I have a 2002 ford ranger, same issue. I use the 4high or 4 low switch and
nothing happens, no light on the dash. I’m wondering if this is the issue
with mine. Set up behind the glove box looks similar. Any way of testing
this to be sure this is the issue?

oh wow you may have just helped me, my one the buttons wont work and
nothing happened but was yours in 2wd when it happened? i thought they were
full time 4wd ?
