I have a lincoln aviator 2004 it would turn off while on idol so I get the
code and it is p0306 cylinder misfire and the truck has a bad clicking
noise in the motor code the cylinder misfire be making this loud noise

This won’t solve my problem since I have a constant misfire.
I have a n 97 Nissan Maxima. With the same po305 code. I replaced the coil
pack because it tested out of spec. It seemed at first it fixed the problem
but later on in the day it started missing again. I looked at my old coil
and at the bottom of the boot there appears to be a whitish residue. Could
this be coolant that has been burnt dry? Do I have to check the gasket for
the upper intake manifold? Or what should I be looking into next
considering the maximals vq30de engine is different than the Ford motor.

Here we have another misfire and this time the check engine light is on. A
code P0305 (Cylinder #5 Misfire) was present. Turned out to be a coolant
saturated coil and boot assembly. Quick and easy fix!

Your welcome! You may have caught Michael saying the customer replaced the
intake gaskets a few weeks prior the it beginning to misfire. On these
Fords when the intake gaskets leak coolant, its common for the coils and
boot to come in contact with coolant. Even when recommended to replace the
coils and boots because of this could add several hundred dollars to an
intake gasket replacement. Customers usually opt out if there is no misfire
at the time of gasket replacement.
It’s always a good idea to quiz the customer on prior repairs and issues.
It could possibly be a good indicator to the problem that’s currently
happening.
