I think you're missing the point here. There are tons of people who would love a truck but could never go there due to terrible gas mileage and other stigmas. The Lightning opens the market to people that aren't necessarily "truck people". A huge chunk of Lightning pre-orders are first time truck buyers. I will be among them soon. Weird take saying this vehicle will be a "failure" and will bankrupt Ford…
Demand for the f150 is insane. They will have no problem selling them. You won’t be able to get one without a preorder till 2025 probably.

Have on-site generators to charge trucks for construction sites. But it isn't cost worthy.

The only way you can make an electric vehicle as reliable as a gasoline/diesel vehicle is with hydrogen fuel cells. No need for liquid hydrogen or hydrogen gas, the tech exists to make solid state hydrogen. Safe, stable, and faster refueling than it takes to fill a gas tank.
I think the F150 Lighting will be an amazing success for Ford. I plan to buy one.
Teslas all recalled….but nearly every recall was fixed by an over the air update…boy.
So the electric F150 can tow 10,000 pounds 10 miles, wow, great. And BTW, you cannot recharge with a small gasoline generator because there is no such thing as perpetual motion or something for nothing. The amount of gasoline needed to recharge would be equal to the energy expended to move the truck the distance it has traveled.
I think Scotty is wrong. I believe Ford is going to sell every one of their F-150 Lightnings. The commercial-focused Pro model, if not snapped up by commercial customers, will be purchased by regular consumers due to its affordable loss-leader pricing. There are a lot of people who will want an EV pickup, more than enough to make up for the number of potential customers turned off by the prospect. I think a charging infrastructure is less important than a lot of people think. Most people are already accustomed to charging their devices overnight to use during the day. This is just another such device.
Towing, towing, towing. This is really the problem with electric trucks for the commercial market. I don't hear of any manufacturer even considering a 3/4+ ton electric truck yet.
They say they’re not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford eventually spins off their electric vehicles into a different branch than the main Ford brand. Then if they flop, maybe it won’t tank the whole company and ruin the main brand.
How naive do you got to be to cut a population (Americans) off of an energy source without having a viable energy source that is not sustainable. Where do people think electricity comes from ? Electricity bills will sky rocket just trying to meet the demand put on electrical grids. It’s just not feasible. Unless you cut most the population off from being able to afford electrical vehicles. And that way lower the strain on the power grids. And that people is the plan.

if im being honest, the lighting sounds like a great truck, but on a specs sheet and in testing its not that great. EVs still arent ready for mass production like the media is trying to push
