Valley4x4 says:

Great video, very well done!

Chris Rice says:

Well heck you got lucky! That is the easy design on the explorer. Some
years have two inlets on one outlet. Both inlets have the cool little red
locking connectors. If you dont have experience with them it will make for
a aggrivating day! Cool vid!

rcmaster1029 says:

Is this the same on the V6 and V8?

teaglet says:

I worked house on it this weeknd. I gave up I could not get the filter off
the inlet line, I bought line compression tools and still coulnd’t get it
off. those clips were only on the exit side lines. mine was on a 2002
explorer.

Great video, made the job easy for me…thanks for posting! Question for
you; My service manual says I have to lubricate all non-sealed steering
linkage, ball joints, half & drive-shafts and u-joints. Do you have any
videos explaining this for a 2006 Ford Explorer?

sarah strapkovic says:

Thank you so much for the video. I have no experience and was able to
replace mine for $10, compared to the $200 my mechanic wanted. Very easy
instructions to follow,…. You saved this girl a lot of money. 😀

midlantic1 says:

Pretty clean up under there for a 2006. Looks almost like a new truck

Joe Shook says:

plastic hose clamp above catalytic converter = fail

eddie gee says:

i cant get the inlet side off to save my life. How about a needle nose to
pinch it and push? Any thoughts.

Good video.

@fordfan855 Come on, he’s not hitting the kick panel with a hammer.. if
your car can’t take that, they time for an upgrade. I’ve done this to my
own identical vehicle and a couple of raps on the side won’t hurt it. It
also gives you an indication that the fuel cutoff switch actually works!

teaglet says:

you have to pound on the filter switch?

William Wynn says:

So they call it a quick disconnect ? Tends to make one think its going to
be a quick easy job. Then they place the thing in a spot where it’s
impossible to see. And just to make it more interesting they hide it behind
a heat shield. No wonder I could not find the damn thing. Thanks for making
the video. They could have put this thing someplace easy to get to.

reymundo5 says:

is the 06 explorer fuel filter in the same place in a 98 explorer?

Rikka1965 says:

Awesome video. It saved the day!!! I have never seen a fuel filter this
well hidden!!

bigjohnstud4200 says:

Excellent instructional and 100% accurate!

midlantic1 says:

2002 E-250 with the 4.2 V-6. Pulled the 30 amp fuse, replaced the fuel
filter, replaced the fuse, now the truck wont start. Checked the fuse and
the kill switch under the passenger kick cover, all ok. Cranks and cranks
but wont fire. No problem prior to changing the filter. Even swithed out
the relay with another, no luck. Any ideas?? I’m baffled, any help would
make my day since I use this truck for work.

roadragecustoms says:

@fatbradlehs The manufacturer recommends replacing the fuel filter on this
vehicle every 30,000 miles.

roadragecustoms says:

@gearheads440 You’ve never heard of a catalytic converter, or just never
with a southern accent?

mthirteen says:

@roadragecustoms The accent is what makes your videos awesome! Crisp and
easy to follow!! 😀

kamc1988 says:

Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Especially the detail on how to loosen
the clips. Everyone else on the internet says I needed to buy some special
$10 removal tool!

teaglet says:

you have to pound on the filter switch? Is it in the same location on a
2002 explorer?

spelunkerd says:

The hardest part of a fuel filter these days seems to be those crazy
plastic quick-connects, with a different design in each brand of car. If
you break one of those, I understand that you sometimes have to buy a whole
new plastic line from the dealer. Makes you long for the days when steel
nuts held fuel filters in place. I’m surprised how secure those plastic
tabs can be. Still, I always have a look with the vehicle running to be
sure there are no leaks.
