Henry Ford who?
It seems that I recall that of the Big Three, Ford did not accept government assistance back in 2009 when everybody was losing their investments. I was proud of Ford back then. Today, it seems that many car makers have guzzled the kool-aid and are living in the delusional world of "saving the planet from internal combustion gas emissions" by reducing their model listings and converting models to hybrid or full electric power. Somebody in very high power must have these car manufacturers by their gonads, and are directing them to do this foolish thing.
How can the CEO keep his job….. such an a-hole.
Just like Kia and Hyundai, Ford spent their budget on designers instead of engineers.
Ford''s CEO needs to read Halberstam's "The Reckoning" and learn about Sloanism. If they don't sell to entry level new car buyers, they will cease to exist over time as they will not be able to develop a new customer base.

They will probably put a big 4 cylinder engine in a expedition or maybe a 3 cylinder to get better gas mileage.

If a recession comes? Is that supposed to be a joke? Our economy is literally on the verge of collapsing. Everyone is trying to divest from the us dollar (the big players that matter anyway China, Saudi Arabia, etc.) Inflation is through the roof dude it's right where it was at before the collapse in the 20s.
