dou gan says:

i have tried on my smax 2009 zetec auto but it just end up on TEST word but it doesnt check the gauges

Pauric Cannon says:

the reason i want to perform the self diagnostic test is i get an engine malfunction warning appear when i accelerate on to the motorway first thing in the morning on the way to work.
this has happened 2 mornings in a row now so im getting worried it might be something serious

Pauric Cannon says:

Hi a have an 08 1.8 litre diesel 2nd hand. i followed your tutorial to the word, i cant get test to display on the screen. any ideas

sproaty says:

does it happen at 12mph? Mine does it too – ABS self check is what I’ve read too (happens to my 59 plate 1.6 ztec TDCI)

Alexander Volle says:

The negative cable should connect to the chassis (ground)

Gary Liddington says:

Don’t suppose you know how to attach jumper cables to the smax battery to use it to jump start another car? Obviously the positive point is accessible but not the negative….

Paul Daly says:

Great video, have a 2010 focus and had a problem where my auxiliary input & Bluetooth just stopped working. Ran the test and came up with DTC #00 None like yours and the Auxiliary appears to be working again maybe just needed a refresh or something… cheers

Alan Akeister says:

How do you do it on a Titanium S-Max with no key to ignition? Cheers

elboydo06 says:

I used to get a clinking noise once or twice when driving my focus, i’d recommend posting about this in some owners clubs/forums see if anyone else has any better advice?

bullynum1 says:

Hi mate need your help … Just bought a 60 plate ford focus zetec 1.6 and every time I start up the car and travel bout 100 yards I here a small clunking noise .. I took it back to the dealer and was told this noise was a self test on the a.b.s ….. Is this right?? It only makes this sound once when I’m out and about … But every time when I start the car..

elboydo06 says:

no equipment or software required, just follow the steps in the video 🙂

elboydo06 says:

sorry absolutely no idea how to do this with keyless tech!

acid987 says:

Thanks bro, what is the name of the software? And how do you do it? I would like to buy this equipment. Sent me a message on sis092-kool@yahoo.com

kilito12 says:

TGmick says:

haha awesome. I saw ‘chimer module On 750hz 50%’. Sounds like you could change though, maybe by flicking the menu up or down? 50% volume? When my focus went in for its recent service the warning sounds seemed louder, dont know if it was just me or Ringways run this test as I guess they would and changed it

elboydo06 says:

i don’t think you can intentionally change things, i know i accidentally changed things when driving the car in diagnostic mode managed to reset my mileage once which was genuinely amazing, but the next time i fired the car up it was back. that happened because i was running the car in diagnostics mode on engine temperature and i was stuck on ice with some serious wheel spin uphill. if you can find a way of repeating that see if you could save it? new way of clocking cars perhaps?

TGmick says:

lol but what can you change? 😛

elboydo06 says:

i decided against messing if i’m honest with you haha for exactly the same reason 😉

TGmick says:

Cool, never thought i could do that to my focus, Can you change the level of volume for the warning sounds/indicator sound? and what else could you change for the car?

Thanks. Going to try this mode out tomorrow, just thought i’d ask you what i could change before I messed something up by some random codes lol

elboydo06 says:

yes keep pushing the set-reset button to cycle thru all the tests

cmagennis927 says:

Hi my aunt has a 09 SMax 2L TDCI Zetec and there was a problem with the boot lid and parking sensors, I tried dong this diagnostic test on the car but after the gauge sweep it never went on to do the LED test? Do you have to press a button so it can do the LED test? Thnx

elboydo06 says:

the s-max seems to have recently chewed apart its own air-box somehow :S, could be linked with this problem some time ago, just thought i’d mention it 😉

elboydo06 says:

the only real noticeable changes is the facelift to be honest, ford did have a big change of all their engines in 2008, think it added a handful of horsepower but nothing amazing. i afforded my 09 1.6 zetec s on finance with a part time tesco wage ;P

elboydo06 says:

sorry about the delay, still trying to find some free time

jaimehatespapi says:

Brilliant! Love the Focus MkII

elboydo06 says:

ill get on it asap : ]

elboydo06 says:

recently noticed when driving the car in diagnostics mode that when the fuel warning light came on the light flashed constantly and the low fuel tone/noise kept repeating till i re-started the car :/

elboydo06 says:

you get the mileage stats in KMH, if your like me and used to using miles i found it irritating lol
