Hey everyone! Today I show you how to replace the rear timing chain cassette on a 4.0L SOHC engine without using the special OTC 6488 tool kit. This can be done at home. Take your time, listen closely. If you have any doubt, stop. Please subscribe!

With today's aftermarket parts quality being problematic, would it be wise to just reuse the old chains rather than install new aftermarket chains? Even for someone with a garage, tools, & the know-how, this is an engine out job. Who wants to have to do this twice in less than 100k miles?

I have an issue when I align the 0 mark on the harmonic balancer the cam tool won’t go on and the cams are not straight on the flat spot on top. But when I align the key way facing upward %100 everything is in time perfect. Basically the keyway Mark when facing up is not matching up with the zero Mark when the harmonic balancer put in which one should I go by?

I took off my oil cover and oil pan. I’m taking the balance shaft off completely. I seen in another video that “if you remove the chain. You remove the shaft.”

I got a 2004 ford explorer xlt 4.0 in ot 4 wheel drive i bought it for 500 bucks and noticed the value cover was cracked so it is timing chane needs changed both how hard is it to pull engine do both them
