Up north where I live!! You would never see a truck so clean where that lock is. Just saying. Anyway I cut the cord with a grinder after 20 years of spare being up under box. And spare worked wonders that day

And now the lowering mechanism for the spare is completely rusted and will not move. So you beat on it for an hour on the side of the road swearing in a drizzle of freezing rain. Finally your buddy shows up with a battery grinder and a good flashlight. Another hour you get it down by destroying the clamp. Then you realize it is flat. Brilliant design. Brilliant.
