DIY How To Remove Replace Coil Pack (1991-2011 Ford Explorer or Ranger V6)

DIY HOW TO PULL YOUR OWN PARTS AT A SALVAGE YARD AND SAVE MONEY while keeping your vehicle on the road! How to remove/replace the COIL PACK from a 1991-2011 Ford Explorer or Ranger. This process is the same on the list of Ford vehicles listed below as well as the tools needed and instructional steps.

All vehicles equipped with the 4.0 V6 Engine:
 1991-2010 Ford Explorer
 1991-2011 Ford Ranger

TOOLS NEEDED FOR THIS JOB:
7mm Socket
¼ ratchet or driver
¼ extension

QUICK PULL TIP: Twist and pull plug wire boots at the same time for easy removal.

STEPS FOR REMOVAL:
1. Twist and pull each spart plug wire to remove. Some plug wire
boots will have plastic tabs you will have to pinch while twisting
and pulling.
2. Remove the 4, 7mm bolts that secures the coil pack down.
3. Locate the main power plug on the side of the coil pack, lift tab on the plug and pull plug.

REPLACE: Follow the steps above in reverse.

I just had a coil pack go bad on my 96 Mazda B Series 3.0 which has the same basic set up as this 4.0. Very easy fix on these trucks!
