just had to do the same exact thing on my truck yesterday, found it easier to disconnect the wires on the back of the alternator after it is removed, and installing them on the new one before installing it.
I don't know or care if it was right, but I did it the same way and it worked. I didn't find the radiator hose to be in the way, so I left it connected.
Thank you for doing this, I grabbed a 15,13, and a 10, swapped the new one in and took the core back to the store in 20 minutes.
