2:30 that is not a torsion link.

Eagleguts says:

If someone has their foot on the brake it holds everything tight to loosen
or tighten the axle nut

Thanks for the video…I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this, but is
there one on each side of the car for this? And, if there are two on each
axle, then I assume there isn’t a right and a lieft, but they’re the same,
right? Dumb ?’s I know, but I just want to ask.

I’ve done quite a bit on cars, but for whatever reason, I haven’t done much
with the suspension/gears. Most transmission-y stuff I’ve done is change
the filter and fluid..

What’s the cost in labor + parts on this fix? Curious because I have a 2003
Explorer 4×4, my front CVs need to be replaced. I normally do auto work
myself but my new house has no safe place to jack up and work on my car so
I’m forced to take it to a shop. So what would this job run at your shop?
Doesn’t seem like a long job either, maybe 2hrs labor cost for both fronts?
Thanks for your time!

That was painful to watch…

Glenn Geelhoed says:

Looks easy enough. I need to replace one in a friends 2000 Explorer 4×4
front. Looking up the part it seems that all fronts are the same weather
4×4 or 2×4. Is this correct?

Richard Lane says:

I have a 1998 Ranger. In order to remove the cv axle from the hub assembly
and such there is a Snap ring and a sort of metal spring in front of it
inside the hub assembly. Is it required after changing the hub assemble and
cv axle to put this metal key ring like spring back in front of the snap
ring? Or will ir be alright with just the snap ring in?

jdm civic says:

when that is tight you should not be able to move the shaft freely in the
hub correct?
