Good tips Brian. 350 ft lbs wow , I think a good blast of the impact is all
its go a get from me :). I have given up on the spray cans of penetrating
fluid long time ago. I use acetone ( metal parts cleaner) mixed 50/50 with
transmission fluid in an oil can. I like it , maybe a tip you could try out
yourself.
Those top nuts are hateful to get at. I like the front end setup on these
newer style F150s though, I don’t know if they’ll live as long as a set of
I beams but they’re a lot easier to work on.
You might also try twister penetrant made by zep. I used this stuff when i
was a ford tech and the nuts and bolts came right off even without knocking
the rust off first. Just thought you might try this stuff as well
ok Ford guys….I have a 1980 F150 4×4 351M. bad compression and bad
intake gasket.
I have a ford 400 out of an LTD with 60,000 miles on it. can I swap
engines and will everything fit ? I know I have to change the
distributor. looking forward to your comments
2014 is a little different. they are a bar pin sticking through the lower
bushing on the strut and have 2 studs sticking out the bottom through the
lower control arm with 2 15mm fastners.
Wow Brian this is awsome I have an 11 year old f150 and I always wanted to
learn how to do this just in case anything happens to my truck thanks
awsome vid as always very thorough on how you explain things keep it up and
thanks.
350 foot pounds on that lower bolt. Looks like I need a bigger torque
wrench. On a side note. Do you have any tips or pointers for a guy trying
to solve rear driveling vibration on an 06 f150. Thanks for the vid.
How do you know what higher quality parts are? Is it always a function of
price? For example, if I get rotors at Advanced Auto, do I just assume the
more expensive ones are the best? Thanks, great channel.
Figures Chrysler would find the best rust penetrating fluid if you ever
worked on them your going to need it a lot.
On the ford though I was looking at strut spacers to level the front end of
the truck just for looks and some more tire space . Have you run into any
problems caused by them . They make plastic ,steel ,and aluminium ones .
Any guess witch is better ?
I could have used this video a few months back. Haha. I had no idea that
this would be a common thing. My spring let lose while turning into my
driveway (thankfully) and it was a loud pop/ping sound. Scared the crap out
of me. It would have saved me a few hundred on labor doing it myself than
having my mechanic do it, but I had no idea what the problem was. It
sounded more serious than it really was I guess! Then again, I have no idea
how I’d torque down that big bottom bolt accurately.
It’s hard to hear what you’re saying with the radio playing in the
background.
Wait why is there a new cv shaft
Glad you are posting videos again! How about a tour of your new shop?

what is your take on installing leveling kits on those struts?
Did I hear you right? 350 ft lbs? That’s tighter than a cornered nun.

Whoa A new cv joint appeared too…
Hey Brian –
Good video – thanks for sharing – the bottom strut nut wow 350 ft. lbs –
whew !
PB Blaster is another good penetrating spray .
I wouldn’t think that a coil spring breaking would be a common problem.
Nice Job. I like how you explained everything in detail. Thank you
Nice video. I have been waiting for this one. I agree with the rest, 350
lbs WOW!
Where did you jack it up from? When I jacked my truck up, the upper arm
stooped down and was hitting the coil…is this normal?
Its a shame you were pushed out of the dealership for trying to help
…Keep up the good work..

I didn’t cheap out on struts for my ’05 Grand Marquis, I installed KYB
551600.
was there a recall on the springs?
Thanks for the videos
