If the brake line is old enough to where the weight of the caliper will damage it then it needs to be replaced.

Richard Macabio says:

Don’t forget to prop up the caliper so it does not hang and pull on the brake line. Like shown in the video. Use a wire hanger or bungee cord.

SparkysGarage says:

Fairly simple task and can save a boat load of money.

THANKS! You make it look easy enough for ME TO DO IT!

Very welcome :)

This video is great! Thanks!

SparkysGarage says:

Absolutely not. Should slide right into place. If there is corrosion built up on the hub you may need to clean it with a wire brush and some degreaser.

Duke Vanguard says:

When replacing the rotor, do you have to beat the new rotor back in?

lol first time i tried to put new brakes on my mustang i broke a C-clamp.i was trying to push the Caliper pistons in.

gatorhunter1 says:

Try putting you lug nuts on the studs snug against the rotor. That solved that problem for me trying to reinstall the caliper.

Awesome! 🙂

this helped me a lot thanks.

@cubano1389 Good suggestion.

Luis Ceballos says:

On these mustangs a good place to put the caliper so its not hanging by the hose is the space behind the strut were the strut tower is, i always place the caliper there and it does not hang on the hose.

Luis Ceballos says:

Mine were also thick, make sure u spinned the piston back or else new pads wont work.

shortthrow50 says:

Why not just remove the 2 15mm bolts holding the bracket? When i did my brakes, i saw no need for removing the caliper slides. Pull the 2- 15mm bolts, remove whole assembly and the bracket slides right off the slides so you can clean and regrease and put everything back together. Not knocking you, just wandering in case there is a good reason why i didnt do it your way. Thanks

SparkysGarage says:

You might have gotten Cobra pads or somehow the pads that are in the box might not be the ones that are supposed to be in the box. Return those pads and grab a set from another store.

WRExpert0101 says:

yeah they were compressed till they couldnt go back any further. and the rotor is the one thats been on it already. maybe the pads are just too big i guess

SparkysGarage says:

Did you compress the caliper pistons all the way? Are you sure its the correct size rotor?

WRExpert0101 says:

i got new brake pas for my 03 3.8l v6 but the pads were too thick for the caliper to fit back on correctly without lots and lots of hammering so we just took the pads out and put back in the old ones. we got it confirmed that the pads were right for the car at autozone but they just barely wont fit. what should i do?

SparkysGarage says:

Just take your time and make sure everything is tightened to torque spec and you will be fine.

Just because someone else does the work on your car doesnt mean the wheel wont fall off 😉
