Hi.I did my 1998 Lincoln Navigator today in my driveway. What a pain in the ass!I wacked and greased that fucking rotor for an hour and could not get it off.Never had this problem after many many brake jobs.I guess these big 4 wheel drive SUV’s need that pry bar action.Great video and great tip w/ that pry bar action!! peace,Piero

VITAL INFO THAT YOU FAILED TO MENTION:

1/2 inch

If you’re asking about the hex bolts attaching the calipers to the rotor, those are 9mm for the front brakes, and 7mm for the rear.

7mm is a standard size and can be found anywhere….9mm are usually sold only as part of large (expensive) metric hex bit sets or as special orders. Various auto parts stores will carry the metric sets, Snap-on tools will likely have the singles and sets.

Diego Ramirez says:

Can i hit the ROTORS with a hammer and reused the ROTORS again? Would it damage the surface of the rotors thanks!

9mm allen socket for caliper.

HighlightReel15 says:

Is this 2WD or 4WD?

scorpiobites101 says:

This was an awesome video! It was very helpfully by fully explaining all the details and by showing the diagrams. Sizes of the sockets were on point ! Thanks a lot. Now I’m going to change my routers and brake pads on my 2003 expedition

7mm allen socket to remove caliper bolts.

John Hellmund says:

Great video. I have a 2005 Expedition. What size Torx T do you need to remove the retaining bolt?

Eduardo Albelo says:

Delvin Rojas says:

Great video …….Thankyou

Thomas Steck says:

Just did this job on one of my wheels and I like the person below I have an extra spring. Not sure what it is for but I will after I do the next wheel. Also, I have had problems in the past with the caliper pins freezing up. I always take them out, clean them up and gease them with caliper grease. If the pin freezes up it causes braking probems. Good video

Great video. Very informative.

Rachel Elaine says:

Thanks so much for this video. We have a 2005 Expedition and it was exactly the same.

Mike Rabatin says:

Thanks for the video. Very clear and made the whole process look simple.

I have a 2004. Can’t get the rotors off now, but didn’t try your pry and bang solution yet. I had a question. I have an extra spring attached to the inside pad and the outer caliper. Did the 2003 not have that?

Joe Kisa says:

I have a 2005 Expedition…gonna use this video to help guide replacing the pads and rotors.
