Great video…saved me a lot of time figuring out the way to remove the fan clutch…tip made it a piece of cake!…tnx

cdk2678 says:

Where can I get the hose clamp tool froom?

APDTY says:

it actually just made it easier to work on the truck, I think it can be done without removing them, but I like to free up as much space as possible because it can save headache and frustration.

Richie freeman says:

The pulleys I commented on, did they have to come off? Or did it just make it easier to work? Thanks

APDTY says:

We took them off and showed them going back on,, but the video was sped up during the reinstallation, you will see it happen right around the 14:20 mark, Thanks.

Richie freeman says:

Looks like you left some things out? You took off idler pulley and the alt pulley or was I just seeing things?

ThePariss333 says:

How long can last a timing belt and how long can last the water pump?

—– The Dealer just replace my timing belt, but not the water pump and not even the idle, or tensioner. The Water pump is guaranty for 100.000 miles by Hyundai.

The old timing was brand new, just dust and the car had only 50,300 miles, but more than 48 month since production date, so I didn’t want any risk.

APDTY says:

Just have to make sure you use the correct discs, the ones I use are safe for use on aluminum, of course if you were to sit there and hold the wheel in one spot for a long time, you could do damage, but you would have to hold it in that spot for much longer than needed to clean the gasket.

bikr1975 says:

isnt that grinder a bad idea since you could accidentally remove too much and create recesses in the lining?

APDTY says:

Squeaking is usually associated with the belt slipping. When you turn the heat on, the AC compressor also comes on, the extra load from the compressor may be causing the belt to squeak. Investigate the belt tensioner and belt on your vehicle, I suspect the problem lies there.

jpedroza602 says:

I just put a new pump and now its squeeks only stops wen i turn on my heater u think it could be my thermostat? ????

APDTY says:

it really depends on the exact kind you use, they all will have slightly different instructions on the packaging. On this can I think it was a couple minutes. But check on your specific packaging and it will tell you how long to wait.

Kevin Smith says:

About how long do you have to wait for the gasket stuff to dry

Kevin Smith says:

You can find that tool for the clamps on ebay under “hose clamp tool” they look pretty handy but I would just replace them with the screw type on your own vehicle but if your a mechanic they would really come in handy.

Jon Larsen says:

i got a fan bolt loose by heating it with a maps gas torch. turbo swirl. I would like to know how long it to do the job.

moomman89 says:

Thank you.Very informative.

John Wart says:

I have 2 questions. First, when you grind the old gasket remnants off, I didn’t see you rinse the dust away. Actually, it looks like the front of the block is full of dust from grinding the remnants off. Shouldn’t you rinse that area before you install the new water pump? Second, I notice the spray gasket adhesive isn’t sprayed on very neat – there are spots inside the gasket where the adhesive is on the inside of the water pump. Should the excess be wiped away after the adhesive dries?

BroncoBeast13 says:

For anyone asking where you can get the special fan tool, you can get it from AutoZone they will lend it to you, you just have to leave alitl bit of cash with them as collateral, if you don’t have an autozone near you try going to any auto parts store they should have them 🙂

dequanp1979 says:

where did u find the clamp removal tool…. internet….. autoparts store….made it youreself?????? i need one of those…. pliers dosent get it for me…….. AFTER SEEING THAT I NEVER WANT TO HAVE TO USE PLIERS AGAIN

APDTY says:

if you can’t get the fan to break loose, there are specialty tools out there that will allow you to hold the water pump pulley while breaking loose the fan. Usually your local auto-parts store will have a Loaner tool program, and this “Fan Clutch Removal Tool” is a very common loaner tool for the local stores to have for you to borrow.

michelle zaleski says:

how do you take the fan off i cant get it to stop turning

coldwynterwarmth says:

i know right, me too, thats a great tool

coldwynterwarmth says:

veyr clear and detailed explanation..thanks you just saved my ass.

APDTY says:

I lucked out on this one, the clutch was not overly tight, and I used a really good pair of locking pliers to grab onto it, after hitting the pliers in the counterclockwise position a few times, it broke free.
