I bought a ex rental Ferrari F430 which was left abandoned at a track experience place. The car was taken apart 11 years ago to try and fix an issue but never got put back together. Now i have to rebuild the engine along with the whole car and the gearbox, whilst keeping it all under the budget.

ed simpson says:

Why don't you strip down the burned gearbox and set out the parts on a table as you do it, that way you can get all the same parts laid out on another table from your original box of gearbox bits and rebuild the original gearbox !!

Jof H says:

Can't you use the burnt gearbox as a 3d diagram for how to put your gearbox back together?

Race car legends says:

It’s that serious a mistake I would take them back out clean it off or you risk spinning a bearing

Giuliano Mastronardi says:

I would send out the transmission to a shop that rebuilds them and the problem is solved, people that rebuild transmissions rebuild ANY transmission, so if is a Ferrari transmission or Ford, Peugeot or Audi it doesn't matter is just a transmission, and that way you will save yourself a lot of problems and money, that's my opinion anyway, cheers from Waterloo, Ontario ,Canada, Giuliano.

Mechanical Jebus says:

How do you fight fire? With water……

ZeroFive says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but you guys installed the red sealant wrong. You are supposed to put it on the inner side of the bolt holes not the outside? If not the oil will leak through the bolts?

mark leitch says:

You definitely shouldn't be putting bearing lube on the conrod and block side of the bearings as they are more likely to spin a bearing
