While Rebuilding this Burn Totaled Ferrari, I coincidentally ran into the previous owner, and he sent me several thousand worth of Original Ferrari Parts belonging to this car… He also told me the complete story of how it caught on fire.

The Ferrari factory air compressor looks exactly the same as the one that came with my 2006 Chrysler SRT-8, once you take off the black bag that says Ferrari.
Therapy really, that why I watch car rebuilds.
What happens when you overfill a Ferrari with a faulty and loose pump collar?…fire.
I think the person who did the install of the original fuel pump may have split some fuel when removing the old failed one witch may have created a puddle of fuel somewhere close to something hot witch then dripped onto it after a while of driving it set a light
All this money for cars with bad radios, bad cats, catch on fire, what's the appeal?
oh man i can only dream about getting a car like this 🙁 That will never happen to me
Tom – YOU THE MAN! – You have given sooooo…. much! Thank you for sharing with "ALL" of us! – it's great to see and learn about the history of this car. Sam need to buy you a drink and let you drive it again!
I guess a fuel line popped off, that might have made the noise
I would say he probably got an old style pump that may have been sitting for since the car first came out and caused it to be faulty. Especially with plastic parts.
What did we learn from this?? “Don’t buy a Ferrari!” Stick to lambos
One lesson to take away from this saga: carry a fire extinguisher in your car!!! $60 can save you thousands and thousands of $$ fire damage, not to mention possibly lives.
What happened at the end of previous video? It gets burn again?
pumps are not exciting
So he overfilled the fuel tank and the fumes caught on fire.
Check the part number on the manufacture of the plastic top on the Fuel pump against the Invoice of the part to get the year of Manufacture and it should also be on the plastic top of each pump as Ferrari do not make those parts its a buy in part just like a Oil Filter.
my guess: split or slipped o ring , when it was filled up the gas leaked under the collar.. 35 year mechanic ive seen this happen alot , especially now that everything is junk plastic instead of metal
He put too much fuel in the tank. Fuel expands as it heats up. The fuel got hot in the engine compartment and when it expanded I think it leaked out of the fuel pump cap. Even with a rubber seal, the pressure of the fuel expanding would have overcome any seals at that point because the tank is now a pressurized vessel.
Idiots with expensive cars, I dont ever drive a car without a fire extinguisher somewhere in the car (they cost like $20!). Especially if your driving a car with known fire issues and where youve just changed the fuel pump or anything todo with fuel and that car is worth $$$ $20 to potentially save $100,000+ ???
