Very good video! Thanks for sharing all of this! BTW what was the
manufacturer of the bearing? Was the 200 degrees celcius of fahrenheit? And
how many miles/km does your car have on it?
Thanks!
lol ice! hot!
nice)))
+1 )
Excellent clip. Great to see the USA hotrod mentality and knowhow is still
alive and well . I have a NA W210 E55 on its way to me over the next week,
but will look at a supercharged model in the future. largely as a result of
your video.
One point of note: At about 3:06 the drive pulley shows damage to grooves,
probably done at the same time the hub bolt shoulders were rounded off.
While I wouldnt worry about it now, you might want to borrow the wifes nail
file to dress the grooves it the car starts chewing out belts.
Cheers

well it looks like you right about the freewheeling, not that i doubted
you. on my dad’s e55 i put two fingers on the black drum whilst it was
idling and sure enough it came to a halt. good to know, it was starting to
bug me
how long did you cook and freeze the bearing and pulley for?
Love your rag/old dirty sock lmfaooo good video though. Very helpful.
How minutes do you have the pulley in the oven , and how minutes the
bearing in the freezer ?
it was agood job Jennies and i just bought the pulley bearing from ebay guy
was selling 85 dollar plus 45 dollar shiping and this is actually my second
time chanching pulley bearing but first time i change it less then 2 years
ago and my carf make same noise same as yours very helpful
Thanks so much for your ingenuity, thats an awesome video. It is really very
usefull,
the contraction and the expansion of the bearing and the housing was
amazing.
Now i know what to do when the time comes for a replacement in my 211 e55
Thanks
Hi
Great job,
You’re awesome, thank you. It’ll help me do mine!
Thanx for this video , it’s very help full
where did you get the torque specs from?
Nice job I am impressed!
Good questions. I should specify that by not spinning I mean not being
driven by the belt. The SC will freewheel from the engine drawing air into
the engine, but at idle, the belt is not driving it, and not forcing air in
at greater than atmospheric pressure. The whine at cold startup is the
engine oil pump.
That was funny :))) My Subaru needed a head-gasket. After seeing this video
I put the engine in the fridge and the gaskets in the oven, after 20
minutes the gaskets expanded & the engine stopped leaking! 😀 You did a
good job, before the car sounded like a 30-year old bus but afterward it
sounds like a much, much newer bus hahahaha :))) I like E55 too, (best
performance+luxury+comfort) money can buy.
you say the supercharger does not spin at idle, yet at 16:45 it appears to
be doing just that… doesn’t that also account for the whine that it makes
when you start it? (any 55 kompressor engine, including my dad’s 05 E55) or
am i just clueless. i also thought that it does not spin unless it’s under
load
I’m going to do this entire process this weekend. I’ll make my own video
and credit you on parts of your process. Thanks bro!
I think the chirp is fairly normal, it’s just the belt slipping a little
when the supercharger engages hard. The magnet is in the big round disk
that is on the supercharger shaft behind the pulley.
Very informative video. I have a 03 CL55 that makes a churp noise whenever
I go into second gear. I’ve been told it’s the magnetic clutch engaging the
supercharger. Question… is the clutch plate on the back side of the
pulley you removed? If I replace that will the plate be included? Any help
would be appreciated. You have convinced me I can do it myself.
I’m glad you liked the video. I put the parts in their respective places
for about 45 minutes before assembly. Good luck with the job!
haha, thanks!
GREAT video…I have to do mine…the bearings are ordered! I have a
question how long did you put one part in the oven and other in the
freezer? thanks
I dont care what anybody says your brilliant!
I mean bearing
a small hydrolic jack is good to use also but you would need to fab
yourself a rig for it
Nice video man @jenniesgarage but I have a question I have a 2006 e55 amg
there’s nothing wrong with my pulley but if that was to happen to my year
e55 can I use the same method
