I use hot water, it removes the polish easier, then wax

Autoglym have a product called paint renovator. Otherwise Meguiars have a
heavy compound product as well.

What is the cutting compound called again? Does this stuff work for my
situation? I painted an area of my car and it is smooth and glossy but it
has a texture and I want that paint to look smooth and mirror reflective
like original car paint.

I dont think it has a clearcoat. Clear coat can fade and crack as well.

You can do it by hand, or get a mini buff pad that goes on a drill like I
used in the plastic painting episode.
