my data and furthermost my assignments and projects which I had to submit
by year end.

SolsSecretBox says:

You are a life saver my goodness. I’ve been suffering for 6mths, called the
internet company, opened up the mac and all. So this worked and It is now
fixed. Can you explain what I actually did? (what I am deleting) ?

Link2pokemon says:

I have a MacbookPro9,2 but it doesn’t appear in the plugins, what should I
do?

jeppe werring says:

my kernel task is taking up 443 mb is that alot or normal

Eder de León says:

STILL MY MODEL IS NOT ON THE LIST! MacBookPro11,3 is mine… List goes up
to 8,3 HEEELLLLLLPPPPP

Paula Perreira says:

But why does it work? What issues could be created by removing the plugin
plist for our model? What issues will occur with needed plugins that were
on that plist?

Xoogle says:

thankyouuuuuuuu

gamedsku says:

After i have installed Yosemite, the slowdown came back again.

This method still solve my issue.

IronhorseMike says:

I got as far as Contents where I expected to see a “Resources” folder and
there is none. The only folders are CodeSignature and MacOS, It looks like
single page called “CodeResources” is there, clicking that notes that this
is the first time I’m ever opening this. I’m on an iMac7,1 running
Yosemite 10.10.1. So what do I do?

ginopao says:

I have a problem, model identifier – iMac14,3 doesn’t show up on resources.
I am hating Mac right now. My 2010 model Macbook pro runs faster. URGH!!!

Rod Ackermann says:

Worked perfectly for me on an iMac10,1. Kernel task was using 25GB, now
down to 600MB.
Thank you

pij09 says:

THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU!!!!!This problem had me frustrated for weeks
until I found your video!Tried Apple Support Communities as well as various
other forums and nobody was able to help me.This video cured problem
totally!

sultan buraidah says:

what about MacBook Pro 9.2 ?
no such file appears in your way
8.3 max version!

ParadoX says:

Mine is iMac14,1. Not found in the folder. Started after Yosemite. Kernel
taking at least 1.8GB!

lolapal0oza says:

I am so happy that there are people smart enough out there to find out the
solutions to these problems! I did exactly as this said, and there is a
marked difference in my Macbook Pro’s performance. So thankful!

Ceilidh Madigan says:

CAREFUL! THIS FIX TURNED OFF MY FANS AND CAUSED OVERHEATING

rRedbBull says:

There is no MacbookPro10.1 what i shall to do?

Taylor Craig says:

You can also create a bootable drive for Yosemite. Back up your computer
then wipe your machine. Yosemite does not use kernel at all.

Bakari Chavanu says:

Thanks for this video. I went through the steps, and my kernel_task as
dropped from 5+GB to 775.7MB. I hope that solves the problem. Is the latter
number still too high, though? I have a similar problem with Safari Web
Content taking up lots of memory on my iMac. Again, thanks for this video.
I hope it helps.

CDM Dance says:

What do I do if my Model Identifier MacBookAir6,1 is not listed?

VIPLightning says:

Thanks so much. I noticed that my hackintosh is running a little faster and
smoother now. The kernel_task memory definitely dropped to 396 MB. Last
time it was 645 MB. After deleting the .plist files that said Mac Pro &
Macbook pro and rebooting here after, I also managed to get my old
wallpaper back that I had 2 months ago. So that’s a big plus.

Jesse CdeBaca says:

Mine is MacBookPro9,1 , and that file is NOT in the Resources folder… the
highest version in the folder is MacBookPro8_3.plist , what do I do? Mine
is 9,1 , and I DO have my system set to show hidden files but still can’t
see it

rams smar says:

Thanks…:-) we can just go easy with command line directly

cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/
PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources/

then delete the corresponding macbookpro file version according to your
system.

Shenxiao Zhai says:

Mine says 11,3…. and there’s only up to 8_3.plist for my macbook pro.
Anyone know about this?

Auftrack says:

Thank you so much for this, it made my hackintosh so much better! Also
there is one small issue after i did this..now every time it logs to a
desktop keyboard and mouse dont work for the first let’s say 2-3 minutes.
Keyobard is USB and mouse is PS2. Know how to fix this?

marko85to says:

worked for me thanks!!!!

Dennis Nicles Cobas says:

You Are the Best bro xxxx “Genius”

Vina Melody says:

How about MacbookPro9,1? it also does not appear in the plugins.

Ghost says:

Early 2011 MBP here. I even don’t have the ACPI_SMC_Platform Plugin.kext
file that is in the plug-ins folder, so I can’t get to the resources folder
to check for my model number.

What is the memory usage for everyone’s kernel task? Mine is around 700mb,
is that normal? Maybe I don’t have this issue and thats why it isn’ there.

Ronie Fontecha says:

thank you so much.. gone bonkers for two days and after doing those simple
steps, problem solved!!! thank you again!!! ;)

Alexander McGhee says:

Same problem, mine is MacBookPro9,2 and it is not listed.

kingkobra10 says:

Is this safe to move? I read that kernel_task is used by your OS to manage
and accommodate services and other things needed when you open up programs.
When this is removed from the folder and isn’t running anymore, how does
this affect your system, programs when you run them, etc, etc?

Kevin2rox says:

My Model Identifier says “Macmini6,2” and I couldn’t find it…
Anybody have a workaround?

Thanks!

Matthew Haff says:

My model is iMac 14,2 and it doesn’t have that in the folder…

Bill McCart says:

The plist file for my MacBookPro was not in the Resources folder. It may
have been removed by someone who worked on my slowdown problem a few months
ago. But when I have Activity Monitor running, it consistently shows
kernel_task taking up a lot of CPU time. And my memory usage keeps
declining even what I’m not doing anything. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Logan Beuning says:

I couldn’t find my model number either. I removed all of the model numbers
into a NEW adjacent folder labeled “removed plists”. Restarted and new my
kernel processes is running at 344mb!

Dominic Read says:

My Macbook Indetifier isn’t listed either. Macbook Pro goes up to 8_3, I’m
10_1.

morsymusic says:

So I think this actually worked!!! My startup is once again fast on my
Macbook Pro 10.9.4 (Early 2011). Save the deleted file in another location
just incase. I also went to the “MacRumors” forum and found a page with 23
Tips on speeding up the computer… Thank you team Durga!

John Ligertwood says:

Awesome! Thanks a lot 🙂 Safari is now loading much faster. Cheers!!
