The Exhaust Headers in the Ferrari F430 are prone to cracking and complete failure. This failure can result in metal fragments being sucked into the engine causing a catastrophic failure resulting in HUGE repair bills, including engine replacement!
In this video I show you what a failed exhaust header looks like once the heat shielding and insulation has been removed. The only viable solution is to replace the headers with aftermarket ones.

Brought my '08 F430 Spider into dealer for annual service. They reported headers cracked and quoted me $15,000 to repair.
If your pushing out exhaust gas, how would metal get sucked into the engine ?
Which after market headers would you recommend , in terms of sound and durability ? Thx
my F430 has a Capristo aftermarket muffler and it comes w/ spring-loaded mounts that permit the system to move back and forth as it gets hot and expands it moves almost an inch!
A mechanical engineer friend opines that it's why mine has not cracked ! mayhaps so ? less stress on the exhaust manifolds is his theory !

Thanks Dan for posting this 430 update.. but now that I've seen what a cracked header looks like, I wonder how can metal flakes go in the opposite direction of the exhaust flow – back pressure?
First thing I had done when I bought my F430 is swap the warranty replaced MKII's to Capristo Headers for the piece of mind…and the sound lol
Just another example of why to never buy a Ferrari…
