“Hey we have this rolling piece of art, what should we do with it”
“Lets put a giant fucking sticker on it”
I swear to god you fucking americans.
What a treat to work with Kevin, great episode.
Silver car owner here, whats a swirl mark?
Larry is back! Awesome stuff! Thank you for making it free. Drive Clean
is one of my favorite parts of drive.
Is the water he sprays on the f 40 distilled water to avoid contaminants on
the paint?
Was that a +RegularCars mini shout-out/reference? Or just something all the
internet car guys do?
Quick heads up, your link to Larry’s FB page is broken, needs to be
/AMMOnyc by the looks of it.
“So honey, what did you buy today?” “Well I bought an F40 as a track
car”….must be nice
+AMMONYCdotcom Your smile @ 8:54 – haha – like a child in a candy store
with a free-for-all pass … such genuine fun.
I think I may be the only person in the world excited to see Larry work on
a Honda Civic.
guys, awesome job but I am amazed how easily you went over edges on that
car. Few times I had opportunity to detail F40, Enzo or 288 GTO here in
London and when I did, I taped edges like crazy because once you get a
strike-through and you have to respray just a little area, its
automatically loosing its originality. If it has original paint of course.
Does it appear on camera just like that or are you that good at it or that
brave? 🙂 but again, hats off guys, real pros ;)
Hey Larry, I stumbled upon your videos maybe 8 months ago and have been
watching them over and over again, absorbing the information and applying
that knowledge to my arsenal. It’s become somewhat of an obsession with me
and just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the little tidbits of
knowledge that you throw out there. Thats the best part for me. I want to
know the science behind the technique as well as the technique itself.
Thanks for doing what you do!
That dapper sticker kills this car. Made the car trendy as shit. Lol. But I
can still appreciate that it’s an F40 and I love them. Just wish that
sticker wasn’t there.
Great video as usually Larry! Question for you regarding the Kevin Brown
method… How many pads will you go through when polishing a typical 2 door
coupe? How often do you change pads. Thanks and keep up the great vids!
I want to see more footage of the drive around NYC during the night. NYC +
night + F40 = epic.
LK is finally back on Drive!
Larry I thought you were super crazy about your craft (in the best way
possible, of course lol), but Kevin Brown is a total nerd! Thanks for the
video, incredibly interesting.
Really great video Larry and Kevin Brown awesome tips!! Looking forward to
this next season of Drive Clean!
I wonder if you guys could do an edit of the drive around NYC?
One of things F40 as weight reduction measure had was thiner paint so that
we would see carbon beneath. Was this F40 repainted then? Or I dont see it
right here?
Thanks for another great video Larry and Kevin!
Any serious paint finish requires no swirls. AKA Spider Webs. This car has
nothing but spider webs, as we see briefly at minute 11:00 +/- . I was
able to work 3 years in Capitola Ca with Terry Rhodes, c1978. He died in
2006. Probably from all the lead he put on M/B gullwings and M/B 540K’s,
Porsche’s and other exotica he restored. One restoration, a c.1902 Stevens
Delahaye won best of show at Pebble Beach in c1976. Point is I Never saw a
buffing machine used. Or if I did it had to be only on the first cut. We
sanded with 600 down to 2000. Then polished by hand. Always cross
polishing (and sanding) and always focusing on the long stroke,
lengthwise. Mostly by hand, some use of blocks…I don’t recall using wax.
Mequires “Seal and reseal” is what I recall…It had much better gloss but
tends to act lie a dirt magnet and needs to gently wiped, preferably with
terry cloth or baby diapers. Once you have spider webs you have a lot of
hand polishing to do. You’d probably start with 1200 grit and go to 2000
and then start polishing.
I’m so happy that Drive Clean is back! My favourite flavour of Drive all
together. Larry, will you be doing another project car this season? Like
your Porsche, outlining the PPI, paint correction, wheel swap etc? Also
really enjoyed the driving footage at the end of this video/your Porsche
I’ve been seeing this exact F40 a lot lately. Saw it in 2 H20i movie videos
made just last month, saw it on Car Throttle on Facebook, this video,
Instagram, and just everywhere. Owner must feel nice getting the attention.
Hell, I would too if I owned an F40.
The F40 is seriously one of the ugliest cars ever made, I don’t understand
why people like it. I get the performance aspects of it, I understand that
it started a generation of super cars, but that doesn’t excuse it’s
hidiousness. Every time I look at it, I want to kill it with fire.
do we have something like this in the uk ? and what about tuning companies?
its always america..
Larry/Kevin great job!
Larry, if your ever in Milwaukee shoot me an email. We are a huge import
car company and would love to have you stop by.
Reina International Auto Vespa Milwaukee
What do you and Kevin Brown think about ceramic coating for paint
protection?
This is the defy all odds f40 right? I heard that this is a kit car. Can
someone confirm this or is it really a genuine f40?
FINALLY!!! What a nice surprise and with one of my all time favorites too!
Glad to have you back Larry.
Flipping awesome. Drive Clean is one of my favorite shows.Drive, YouTube,
or otherwise.
I could watch these videos all day. Larry you do great work! I hope to
order some of your products this spring and compare them to chemical guys!
From what ive seen, your products are great! cant wait to give them a try!!
Didn’t mind the sticker on the windshield. Saw the dapper sticker, raised
my fists in rage.
When’s the next episode coming out?
@ 5:49 nice nipples Mr Brown.
Now show us the uncut version with the race you had vs your 964.
Awesome Video Larry, Thanks.
Larry, are you working on anything in the vein of a Gtechniq coating?
Kevin Brown is cool. Guy talking introduced himself twice and made me turn
it off. Boringgg
Funny enough. I know the owner, Corey. He’s such a chill young talent! And
he nonchalantly drove through ocean city last year like he wasn’t in an
f40! lol I’ve only ridden in this car once, life changing.
I’ve said this before, but it continues to be true: Your videos always
make the simple act of washing my car that much better. I’m never going to
be a detailer because I don’t have the time with my extremely lucrative
Youtube commenting practice, but I can now clean and preserve my paint in a
way that I never thought possible.
Put one in a museum and compact the rest. It’s a junker. Substantially
slower than a stock Tesla Model S P85D which is a large heavy electric
sedan.
Try being rational instead of fools.
For anyone questioning bout this F40 its the same exact F40 that came out
in H20i there are scratches all over this car cause he drives it
everywhere
That drive 16:00 minutes into the video. WOW! That car in the cities lights
– simply beautiful.
Larry, whats your height????
Good to see you back Larry…yours vids are always such an interesting &
easy watch. Cheers
F40 track car, except that it has the comfort pack and number plates?
And the aforementioned sticker.
omg this video was like water flowing, from beginning to end, loved it so
full of knowledge! and as always Larry is the man!
Im too afraid to try this on my own car. I love washing it, waxing it. Got
a lot of ammo products, but I just cant get to polishing it myself… I
have no idea where to start, almost a brand new car, only minor washing
scratches on it. Which pads to get, what product, how hard should I press?
I dont want to fuck it up…
