Replacing the front U-Joint on my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4. It wasn’t easy, but I got it done. In this video I show you how, from start to finish.

I was thinking the same thing about using a pipe wrench. I had the same
problem when I changed my u-joint. PB blaster some heat and a pipe wrench
got it loose fast.
Nice work! Less and less Do-it-yourselfers out there these days. Next time,
pick up some PB Blaster for those bastard bolts, and gauging by the
condition of the passenger side bolts etc, I would go ahead and do the
driver’s side too. Rubber mallet would be good to pound on parts in the
brake area so you don’t dent it but still get the force you’re looking for.
That rust everywhere makes me shudder.. LOL Not something that’s usually to
big of a problem in CA.
Andy i hope that grease dont come back to bite ya one of these days.I am a
big fan of the anti seize in spots like that. I am not sure what the
bearing grease will do. Lets hope it works.I have been told that grease
will not stop the rust from taking hold of metal and causing the problems
you had.But i do know anti seize will prevent rust from setting in.
This helped me so much! Thanks a ton for sharing.
You have skills in this such a real surviver, really appreciate your

One common trick to get the hub out without using chisels is to undo the
three hub bolts about a 1/2 inch, then use the 12pt socket, on the bolt
head, and a heavy small sledge, beat on the back of the socket on each
bolt. This will tap the hub out from the back.
You could have used a 14″ aluminum pipe wrench on the bolt head and saved
an .hr
