can u actually put a digital
console in a 03 dodge dakota that doesnt have one

Matthew55904 says:

the temp sensor tells you the outside tempature not the engine temp

Jorge Cordero says:

how did you connect the rear view mirror and for the ambient temp sensor
did you run some wires or how did you connect that, just need to go to the
junkyard and get me a temp sensor for free…. lol

@Lorddarthvader1701 Hey bud! Things are going well on my end, nothing too
exciting, I am looking forward to your updates on that Honda! Can’t wait to
see the body work and paint, it’s going to look awesome!

ted101975 says:

What’s your website again I have a question to post on it.

nojunkorspam says:

Two questions: the little bulbs behind my “US/M, Reset, . .. …, Step, and
O/T” words won’t light up. Are they powered in serial? I have one removed
right now and I’m hoping that’s the problem. It could also be blown bulbs,
but it seems unlikely that both would be dead. What is the reading that
looks like a timer and is followed with a little text showing “ET”? At
first I thought it was the time, then a timer, but it changes so
unpredictably I can’t tell.

Jorge Cordero says:

thank you so much i wanted to do this to my truck ever since i got it, i
will go to the gunk-yard tomorrow and find all the parts to do this, not so
sure but did you show how to connect the dimming rear view mirror.
subscribed and waiting for the update video on the installation

Lorddarthvader1701 says:

Hey TexasCoder how’s it going? great video, almost got the Honda done,
going to publish a video of that pretty soon.

GR HOG says:

This was an invaluable resources for getting my overhead console
computer/homelink installed and working on my 03 Dakota, thanks for saving
me a lot of trouble!

MrDoug916 says:

with the temp sensor everything worked when I plugged it in probably
because my truck already had an ambient temp sensor it was on the passenger
side below the headlight dont know why it was there but made the job alot
easier. Thanks again!!

TheTexasCoder says:

That’s a tough one, I suppose it could still be installed, but I would be
curious if you had the wiring in you CTM for the trip computer? Try asking
over at dakota-durango(dot)com forums and see what others think. There has
to be someone out there that had the same setup.

nojunkorspam says:

I went from a clip-based overhead to a computer and got the computer hooked
up just yesterday. One thing people need to be aware of is that while the
molex plug itself was used for many years the color of the wires changed.
My computer is from a ’02 and I got some wiring from a ’99 or ’00 maybe and
most of the relevant wires were a different color than documented in my ’02
service manual.

mrjonez505 says:

I have a quick question, I was thinking about doing the same thing on a 01
Durango but but mine doesn’t have any kind of overhead console. what do I
do? Any thoughts?

TheTexasCoder says:

Thank you for watching and for the comment, the update video is coming, I
have the install of the auto dimming review mirror in the update video. I
am still tracking down why my temp gauge reads “- -“, and as soon as I have
that solved, I will finish the video and get it posted!

Mike Kalski says:

Did you ever determine why the temp gauge is not working? I am about to do
this to my 2001 Dak.

MrDoug916 says:

Hey thank you so much for this video I bought an 03 dakota in feb and the
only option it didnt have was the homelink which bummed me out so I started
doing research and finally came across your video it looked simple enough
so I bought one on ebay but it didnt come with the other side of the plug
sensing it to be a pain in the ass I returned it and found another I was so
excited I started in the dark using just a flashlight and the rear light I
installed it in about an hour. I had no problem….

compactc9 says:

Its been done, its not too different from what he had to do here, you’re
just replacing the lights with the console rather than changing the console
to one with the computer/homelink buttons.

seaningb says:

I know this is older, but i just did the same thing , but you never did say
what wire goes to what for the mirror… the mirror i go was out of a 2002
durango. has like 5 wires coming out of it.. thanks
