People say they have done all of this but still have the problem, Try
replacing the electric switch on the transmission. Its a twenty five dollar
part.
You really should upgrade that steering to the 08.5+ – MUCH stronger.
I’m not so sure about the misconception part, my steering stabilizer
leaked, the truck has a little over 10k miles and dealer said everything
looked good (other than the steering stabilizer). I went ahead and replaced
it – steering now feels much better at freeway speeds when hitting rough
patches, no DW so far (it’s been about a week). Also there are a lot of
people claiming new tires helps resolve DW if there are no other visible
problems.
Google ‘Carl Death Wobble” – great article on what causes it and how to fix
it. For me, it was my crappy BFG AT tires (Stick to E rated tires on solid
front axle trucks) and a somewhat bad track bar. The BFG tires are a HUGE
cause or a D load range tire. But 5 minor things could cause this. This
article is the best!
Does not anyone see what is wrong with the track bar bolt??? The part of
the bolt witch is gonna carry the load inside the bushing, has a smaller
diameter, and has threads!! It should have an even diameter and no threads
in that part. No wonder it starts to wear out, its made to give play
between the bolt and bushing….
Drive it off a cliff?
Man… I thought this was fixed… I bought a 2012 RAM 3500 DWL and it was
about at 4,500 miles doing about 70 on the highway and passed over an indam
(bridge to pavement transision) and that truck started bucking and jumping
my family was and I were scared to death… Not an enjoyable feeling in a
new $60,000.00 dollar vehicle…. They fixed it by replacing the bushing
and a bigger bar. never new what it was called tell I ran up on this post.
i just put on a dual shock stabilizer yesterday. and the brace is in the
mail. thanks bud.
@AnthonyJ350 What about fabricating your own trac bar with flex or heim
joints? just a thought..
check your steering box for play. pitman arm side . buy a steering box
brace. watch . “dodge ram death wobble solved” video he shows the steering
box play
looks like you got some oil leaks down on the rear, gotta love the cummins
diesels! they all leak
dodge does not give a dam my truck the dash is all cracked the wheel is
loose the frame is rusting under the front sway bar and my clear coat is
cracking dodge sucks i wont buy another one
Thanks Anthony for the video. I do have 1999 RAM 1500, would this solution
work for it? Thanks for the advise.
thank you very helpfull. i had the worst wabble i was pulling another truck
on a trailer on the freeway it happend.
nice. im glad it worked out .. what did the most ? the dual stabilizer or
the brace. did you drive it with only the dual stabilizer first or all
together ? did you check for steering box play before install ? if you had
a choice of 1 of them which would you choose ?
Agreed, took the words out of my mouth. I have an 01 cummins and several
superdutys (deisel and gas) at work that have had death wobble. It is not
brand specific. Good vid.
its not just Dodge we have a 2012 Ford F450 powerstroke that has a death
wobble problem ,it has 22,000 miles and in the shop currently for the 7th
time not all the times for death wobble but still a piece of junk
Assebled in Mexico. When will we learn?
Good on ya! I think it’s awesome when people have that mentality, that way
you’ll enjoy your rig more and have it for a longer period of time 🙂
well i changed all of my tie rods and any bushing under the front of my 04
2500 and still wobbles bad. everything is properly replaced. idk what else
to do.
I have a 2006 3500 and it has the extreme case of Death Wobble. Only has
80,000 miles and Dodge will not help or even own up to the problem. I have
worked in a Dodge Dealer Shop. My truck is going to crash and hurt someone.
Very dangerous. It just sits now. Just making payments and can not drive
it. Dodge Support Stinks!!!!
Thanks! I love the truck but it sucks when this happens!
Toyota, HUMVEE, Abrams tank……
Amen Bro! I had a 2000 with this problem. Over bridge expantion joints, it
felt like the chassis would fly off the road one way, and the body would go
the other! Due to this, and a few other major problems, I avoid dodge like
the plauge now!
This is a good start but is a great start. Here is the recipe to fix the
wobs and believe me I’ve been through it. Track bar bushings on 3rd Gen. If
you have a second gen you will need nd to 3rd Gen Dodge 2500/3500 Trackbar
Retrofit Kit and replace the bar itself. ALL front end parts must be good
or replaced to include ball joints. New stabilizer bar bushings. Check the
steering box, if bad install a Boregeson “Dodge Box”. An absolute must is a
steering box stabilizer (see next post)
DUDE if it ain’t broken don’t even fukin TOUCH IT!!! i have that issue & it
is not something u wanna wish upon to ur worst enemy!!! when the death
wobvble hits GRABB ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL CUZ!!! Shit it shakes the shit
out of ur truck & family! my family gets so scared …its a scary wobble
bro feels like ur truck is going to dismantle its self…HONESTLY NO
BULLSHIT!
Not to mention Cummins is a world-class diesel engine
lol , pogo stick.
this happened to my 05 f250 would this part work the same ona ford?
Same here, u go through forums, they say absolutely everything about every
truck in US or Canada.
2012 and still wobble problems, now it’s really getting in my head as
ignorance. I don’t know maybe their testers never had this happening, who
knows. My friend bought 04 2wd ram and i liked hndling and steering so much
i bought later 06 model. No problems with it until about year ago i get
weird seems like frame flex. If i drop tailgate on it’s cables, whole end
of bed is hoping. In 60m/h it shakes “rear” end over bumps more then usual.
Road force balance helped bunch, but it’s till there
good luck ..
You have to keep in mind no truck is perfect. A lot of Powerstrokes have
head gasket issues, GM trucks have generally weak front ends and are
expensive and difficult to lift cause of the IFS. So whatever truck you
buy, there’s something to address.
I’m running out of options….Ford sucks, Chevy sucks, Dodge
sucks……Horse and buggy next?
i still have a little play. but the dual stabilizer helped the most they
really keep the wheels from unwanted movement. if budget is tight for
anyone that would be the first thing to buy.
Awesome tip. I am going to check out mine this summer. Thanks for the great
video! Looks to be a pretty straightforward fix, too.
I’m not sure if that exact bushing would be identical to your Ford but
there would be something similar. If your truck is high mileage good chance
you’ll have to do this.
damn right i owned all 3. on ram now
Anthony, thank you very much for this. I just bought a 2001 2500 4×4, and
even though I don’t have a wobble issue, I am going to take care of this
ASAP as preventative maintenance.
How to stop death wobble? STOP RATBAGGING YOUR TRUCK STOCK PARTS CAN ONLY
DO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOOG K80777 Front Track Bar Bushing Kit. This however is not all that is
needed to solve this problem. See my post above.
got it all together now. rides like a benz on 38s. lol
Didn’t know some 2012’s were experiencing it as well. I’ve been upgrading a
2012 recently and the owner hasn’t mentioned this to me. Thanks for sharing.
Does anyone have a part number on the urethane version of the trackbar
bushings
nationalcity phyco is right this problem sucks im so sick of it im ready
shoot this pos.
Have you ever tried to use nylon bushing?
