I was in a pinch and used the grooved pulley from my old tensioner in place of the lower smooth pulley. should I get a smooth pulley for it when I get back home or just let it ride?

When I try to replace the idler pulley on the bottom the pulley doesn't seat all the way back after tightening the bolt and the belt sits half on/off the pulley. Does any one know why this would be happening. also; everything else is in alignment.
