This video goes over how to install a battery on a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi. This is the same basic truck since 2009 with only minor changes from year to year. Each vehicle has a manufactured recommendation on the cold cranking amps (CCA) required to start the vehicle on a cold day. If your vehicle comes with a 750 cranking amp battery, you can use a battery that has higher cranking amps if it fits into your vehicle. More power is always better! In colder climates, a battery can last five years or longer, but in hotter climates a car battery typically lasts only three years. Fully charged batteries should read 12.6 volts or above. If the car is running, the number should be between 13.7 and 14.7 for a properly functioning battery. Some signs that your battery is starting to fail are slow or no cranking, dim lights, unusual electrical issues, and of course a warning light on the cars dashboard symbolizing a battery.

What are those 2 fuses (I'm guessing) on the positive battery cable connection?

Good video I thought you were supposed to disconnect negative first for safety. I'm trying to figure out if I need to use a memory saver for 2018 Laramie that has remote start.

I plan on trying this to remove a dead battery in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. My battery is less than 6 months old, and my charger indicated ii is a bad battery. After hours on charge, it does nothing and the lights on the dash and one small red light there all flash when I attach the charger back to it. The new battery has a strap to it, but I could not budge it for anything when I tried to remove it. I simply didn't realize that surrounding protective cover removes as you showed and the bolts holding it down are hidden like that. I sure am hoping that I can get it fixed tomorrow and take this dead battery back to exchange. Thanks for this video, as it is really helpful if it works okay on my '04. I'll have to get that small socket though. 😉

I’ve heard that disconnecting the battery on a New Ram truck will cause the vehicle computer to loose the memory. Did you experience any problem like that?
