therudolfhucker,

What path did you run your wires from the cargo light to the LED strip and
where did you ground it?

Is there anything from your install that you would change? Are the 5050’s
bright enough?

Thanks!

I did something very simiilar but took the power direct from the battery
(with a fuse, obviously) and put an illuminated, waterproof switch on the
front lip of the bed. Now I can see at a glance if the lights have been
left on even with the cover closed.

Great idea. Just thought I’d share my mistake. I Did some lighting in my
truck bed a few years ago. I ran my battery dead one night on a job. I then
installed a led on the dash as reminder. Nice job, I like were you .mounted
the switch. Thank you for the post.

Hi, where you get the buttons switch?

therudolfhucker says:

No vids but I did recently update my install. I actually bought a 5M strip
for $6 (5050s as these are much brighter than 3528s or the 1210s which
yours seem to be). They are now switched from the rear cargo light so I can
turn them on from inside or they come on for about 2 minutes when I hit the
remote unlock. Great for loading the shopping or for unhooking my 5th wheel
in the dark. All I need now is much better back-up lights so I can find the
trailer to hook it up.

hi, this was a low budget install but it is still working great! You can
find these no brand LEDs on ebay, just type in “120cm 12v LED strip”, they
shouldnt cost more then 5-10$ each, good luck with your project, thanks for
commenting
