I have no I’m just geussing its the belt I don’t any ideas

1A Auto Parts says:

Inspect the serpentine belt for cracks on the ribbed side, and replace it if it has cracks. If that isn’t the issue you may need a new belt tensioner if it has lost some of it’s tension. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I just completed my first belt change ever, on my first car. Thanks!

1A Auto Parts says:

It should be the same process. There should also be a belt routing diagram in the engine compartment that shows you how the belt is suppose to be routed.

dev austin says:

do you put the belt on the same way for a 01 dodge durango with a/c as it is in this video?

curemymind says:

For some reason the link keeps directing me to the youtube home page. Thank you tho 🙂

This video will show you how to replace the tensioner. Hope this helps you out. youtube.com/watch?v=OzTqW6ecy-M&feature=plcp

curemymind says:

aw I thought this was to remove the tensioner… Oh well back to the drawing board. I actually never needed a diagram. I tend to just feel it out and it works 100 percent of the time. Also what is up with the “Comments may be held for uploader approval”? I’ve never seen that in a how to video :|…

1A Auto Parts says:

You should be able to move it as shown in the video. They typically don’t freeze up. Usually over time they start to loose tention.

Nicole Adams says:

Well what do you do if the tensioner wont budge?

tanbrolo says:

*AWESOME* video. I had no idea it was that easy to change the belt. My ’03 Caravan’s belt is due for a change and hopefully it’s a similar process as this Durango.

awesome this is a great video tutorial

1A Auto Parts says:

Also check the wire harness that goes between the door and the body of the truck to see if there’s a broke or frayed wire. If there is, that could be causing the issue.

joe shmo says:

the power windows dont work on my 1999 dodge durango. I am unable to find the fuse that goes to the windows. I have looked on the side of the drivers side dashboard. and also looked near the battery compartment. I am assuming to check the fuse first then go deeper. please help.

Thanks, I just changed mine out on my 1999 Durango last night. Very easy fix, just need help moving the tensioner (I just wasn’t strong enough). You saved me a lot of money, that I didn’t have. I am a 32 year old woman, and if I can do any one can. Thanks again

1A Auto Parts says:

Seen them go bad at 30K, seen them last to 100K. The start squeaking or groaning. After removing the belt it is one more bolt, so yes it is easy. I should have a video going up in the next few days. Might want to replace the idler pulley while your at it, common problem and easy and inexpensive.

spelunkerd says:

How often do you see that tensioner go bad? Mine seems a little funky, and I’m guessing it would be an easy job to replace it.

narox says:

Very useful info. Thanks.
