I think I need to change mine also, what were the signs that yours needed
to be replaced? on mine they are becoming stiff, where the tires leave the
ground on road bumps.
thanks for the vid it helped me do mine on my 98 2500, only think i would
add is that driver side is more aqwored as do the brake boster and resavor
and on the 2500s thats were one of the batterys is and the fuze box as well
so anoying spot to get at. as well i had a hard time with the bottom bolt.
i aslo did this with out jacking or taking the tire off yes it porobly be a
bit easer to get at somethings but not a nessaty thanks aging are jay it
was a great vid
hi I have a dodge ram 4wd cummins 1998 the same kind of suspension, i would
like to know if you need something to retain the coil , because in general
when you change front shocks you must put something to retain . But i’m not
sure. Thank you for your help
You will still have to remove the knuckle to get the shock out because it
is so long. So coil springs replacement is not needed unless they are bad
as well. On mine they are fine it was just bouncing to much when hitting
bumps. Kind of like riding a boat, lol
your welcome glad i could help. I know it was a little long, but i just
wanted to make sure I covered everything. Seize the day each and everyday

i have a 95 and the 3 bolts that hold the top of the shock break loose but
then keep spinning do i have to take the coil spring out to get to the
bolts of is there another way of going about it?
So if you would have initially been able to get the top nut off the knuckle
you could have just removed the shock from below and left the knuckle in
place?
Thanks also Jay! I saw your video a while back, since it ‘s been a while,
and I’ve been putting it off, I decided to do it today and also watched
your video again. I have a 1999 Dodge 3500 dually and you were right on all
accounts with your video. Thanks for the help!
ok, i have a possible fix for you, get some liquid wrench or pb blast or
get both, spray the nut and bolts down good let it soak, then do it again.
then take a small pry bar and stick it through gently in the opening there
by the bolts when you can see the shocks, pry upwards on the bracket that
holds the shock that those 3 bolts are in. hopefully while prying up it
will give enough force to hold the bolts to keep them from spinning then
loosen bolts while prying up. get another personifneeded
I am going to do fronts on my 02 2500 4X4, Do I have to jack it and pull
the front wheels off? I dont know if its to take Weight off of Suspension?
let me know Thanks
if you prepare your tools ahead of time and have some penetrating fluid,
this can be done easily in less than an hour both sides. Seize the day each

so it would work best to pull the shocks then compress the coil for removal
when the axle is sagging, then put the new coil and and then pull the
control arms off and put the new ones on and then tighten down the new
shock?
Just a quick note: The zip ties are to hold the dust boot in place when the
shock extends and compresses. One tie to hold the top of the boot and one
to hold the bottom of the boot creating a seal and keep the dust out when
shock is fully extends and compresses.
Hey no problem and you are welcome and thank you for watching.

i like to put a jack under the lower a-arm assembly and bring it up to the
bottom of the shock just makes it easyer

nope coils spring removal is not necessary unless they are bad as well.,
mine are still good and that truck gets abused alot.

Im about to do this on my 2001 4×4. Is it not neccessary to change the
coils too?
