I bought the tool to replace the pulley. There is no shaft sticking up to
put the 10mm side on. Any sugestions?

IDIOTS. It should be visa-versa. BMW EfficientDynamics, lets say, idles
pulley when hardly accelerating and regenerative braking when coasting.

Bill M says:

I picked up this pulley from Rock auto and the cover was missing and they
called Gates and they just delivered it less than 24 hours later. That is
good service. I installed the pulley in less than an hour on the car. I
only had one to replace so I wanted to rent the tool that no one had.
O”Reilly had one that they would rent for 115 deposit till I got there and
then they wanted to sell it to me. I went to another O’Reillys and talked
them into ordering it and then loaning it to me. The next day I used it . I
will use that store and never set foot in the other. I ordered a simple
tool from AutoZone in case I needed it for 24 dollars. If you are in
business fixing cars get the Gates one I just couldn’t afford it right now.
I you want to know the sound it makes when bad go to YouTube and look up
Chrysler sounds and that was how I found the noise. Gates makes the best
products so shop around and find a supplier that carries their parts

Did you ever resolve this issue? I have the same problem.

Mocky Mock says:

one more question about the clutched pulley.. i just had mine changed (plus
bearings) due to a vibrating sound right after i release the throttle after
bringing it to almost redline. will the delay be noticeable enough to hear?
my problem is i can still hear the vibration (which seems to be coming from
the alternator) after i blip the throttle. it runs smooth and silent during
idling though. your thoughts?

I have a 2008 dodge Avenger with a 2.4 liter 4cyl. I have a “heavy
whirring” sound that has started in the engine compartment. After
consulting a “pro” he suggested I replace the belt tensioner which I did
along with the lower idler pulley which was making a little noise as well.
The upper idler pulley was fine. I also replaced the belt. After doing
these things the noise is reduced by about 50% but is still very present.
Could it be the alternator or alt pulley? Maybe the power steering pump? I

Gates the best.

querof says:

Hi it’s work for dodge caliber 2008?

Gates Auto Aftermarket says:

@querof Yes it will.

Gates Auto Aftermarket says:

Hi @mocky1220. Our ADP line includes both one-way clutch (OWC) and
overrunning alternator decoupler (OAD) pulleys. Do not replace an OAD with
an OWC or the other way around and DO NOT use a solid pulley in place of
either the OAD or OWC. The tensioners, pulleys and belt in the accessory
belt drive system were designed for long lasting performance, and changing
any of these components with non-OE spec. parts will dramatically reduce
durability and will result in early failure of the accessories.

Do you have any replacement for a 2010 Dodge Journey with 2.4 litre engine?
The alternator is now making an annoying sound and the mechanic said all
the alternator has to be changed because nobody makes the replacement
decoupler pulley for this alternator. Thanks for your time.

Mocky Mock says:

is it the same as an alternator with a “clutched” pulley?

Gates Auto Aftermarket says:

Thank you for the feedback. We’re always looking for ways to inform our
customers. Are there any other topics you are interested in?

I had an issue with removing an 37113p for a Nissan Altima. I have the
Gates 91024 ADP Tool Kit. The 91024-1 (H22 x 33t) fits perfectly on the
inner part of the pulley, but the original alternator’s center shaft is
flat. There’s no center adapter to hold the center shaft to loosen the
pulley. What could be the solution there?

Carebearshorty says:

I have a car that had a alternator with a one way decoupler pulley
installed. I replaced it so,e years ago with an alternator that fit my car
but had a solid pulley installed. My question is! can I install a one way
clutch pulley on an alternator that came with a solid pulley installed?

Gates Auto Aftermarket says:

Unfortunately, at this time we do not make the replacement part for that
particular vehicle.
