Bit Moody says:

Thnx again! ! Not only am I goin in on my back brakes, your tutorial was
easy enough, for me to do all four corners. Did rears wrong and got tired
of takin off and puttin on wheels n brakes 4 times but I don’t remeber
these vids on YouTube last year hen I had this prob. I’m trying to fix as
much as I can DIY on my own cause owning a Dodge and Ford keeps me pretty
busy all year round under the hood of both!!

Greg Mann says:

Thanks so much Greg we really appreciate the step by step detail…Just did
my Ram 3500 front brakes with your help ;o)

Phil Holt says:

Nice video, but I have a question. When pressing the piston back into the
caliper sometimes the rubber boot round the piston wants to bubble out
instead of folding neatly back onto itself and into the caliper, any ideas
on how to remedy that or does it matter?

FIFI FIFI says:

hello greg cook im concern with something, i did the same thing u did i did
that to my dads 05 ram 1500, resurface rotors, new ceramic brakes, and we
bought new front calipers because no auto part had the caliper seals so we
replaced the calipers, but i left the hose hanging i know i messed up there
but oh well it was to late to clamp it so when i installed everything and
i was done i bleed the braking system from back to front as a sequence but
i still got a spongy pedal so i bleed again i did it more the 5 times, so i
called for help from an experience mechanic well he’s old now and he
explain what else i can try and i did i bleed the master cylinder but
nothing still a spongy pedal so he came over and we checked the master
cylinder and he tested and he saw that the secondary piston had no pressure
so he told me to go to the auto parts and buy a new one so i did, then i
came back and installed the new one and we bench bleed the master cylinder,
so then we checked the pedal but still the spongy pedal, then we tried
bleeding the proportioning valve from all four wheels and we bleed that way
but still again a spongy pedal, we test drove the truck but nothing the
brake pedal seems to just sink to the floor, we bleed the brakes with the
engine on and off but nothing still and then we bleed the abs and nothing
still with the pedal to the floor when we pump the brakes it seems to grab
pressure but i know theres something else that is bad because we cant drive
that way. so my question is what else can be wrong? im so confused why
doesnt it work what did i do wrong or what did i miss? well thank you in
advance greg cook, if u cant help thanks anyways. well sorry for the story
but i just need help.

Rolledtightly says:

my very first brake job. Damn good job too.

through each step not assuming we rookies know. Thank you

Felix Garcia says:

I have a question , I just replaced my front brakes on my 04 dodge ram and
rotor and when push on my brakes I can literally hear my caliper grabbing
on the rotor can u give me some advice on what may be the problem

Walter Jackson says:

you did not put on retaining clip on rotor

muliesnwhitetail says:

Job done. Perfect. Thank you. The only thing I might add was to show the
inner and outer pad identification. Mine was with a red and blue dot. Great
job.

matt summers says:

Pretty damn awesome and in depth video. Thanks

muliesnwhitetail says:

Why ceramic pads over semi- metallic?

Bryan Denson says:

Great video. Very helpful. Thank you.

Eric Knight says:

Also, since you did not secure the rotors, they must be secured by the
tightening of the lugnuts on the tires? Thanks

Greg Cook says:

I am not sure. We bought the bleeder kit from the local auto parts store.
Sorry I am not more help.. Greg

Greg Cook says:

An ASE certified mechanic suggested we do this.. It keeps any debris in the
lines from going up into the anti-lock brake system and causing damage.
It’s a small chance but we wanted to show the right way. Also since the
line is rubber we pinch it just hard enough the close the line. It doesn’t
damage the lines.

Greg Cook says:

Yes they are held in place by the wheel once the lug nuts are tightened..
Thanks

Dlanddrum says:

Great Video. I was wondering what is the purpose of clamping the brake hose
with the pliers? Does that damage the brake hose? Thanks

Dlanddrum says:

Okay, thanks for answering my question. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 mega
cab. is should be pretty much the same process. Thanks

Mark Mcnulty says:

great video very helpful , i have a 2001 1500 and its time to replace
rotors and pads and now i believe can do them myself. thanks
